Of course, you don't get to be religious and believer in god by knowing stuff but by being an ignorant, a proud ignorant that is.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Last I checked, graveyards were full of dead believers. Pretty sure they're all still there, too..but I guess we could send somebody to run out and make sure?
The living mindless hordes cause enough trouble as it is. Wouldn't want the faithful Z catching us by surprise.

It seems a bit odd that people who don't believe in something are so obsessed with it. Really, why all the fuss? When you talk about something, you give strength to it. Reminds me of the recent thing with people getting upset about blueprints for making a gun on a 3D printer. Instead of just letting it be, people were making a fuss about it being on the Internet, so it hit the news and there was a deadline issued to remove them. So an exceptionally high number of people downloaded them before the deadline. In the end, there were probably more people who made guns with the blueprints, then if nobody would have fussed. Anytime you draw attention to something, you may reach some who share your view, but it's also going to strengthen the original subject as well.

WTF are you blabbing about? You know that this is a response to an earlier conversation?

Because it's harmful. If it had no impact on our lives, then yes it would be easy to ignore. Unfortunately it does have an impact a very negative one IMO.
As long as religions marginalize and discriminate against groups of people and fill little children's heads with nonsense, I for one will have something to say about it.

Same thing we've seen historically with atheism. I think it's more of a human thing. There are bad people, and often they abuse an ideology for selfish reasons or just plain ignorance.

Atheism is a stance, not a reason for action. Religion gives people a reason to act, and sometimes their actions are harmful to others.
There is no dogma or tenets with atheism therefore you can't act in a certain way based on being an atheist.
