Sounds like something out of
The Notebooks of Lazarus Long, methinks. That would make it from RAH.

In terms of irrational fears I'm afraid of the majority of flying animals that come close to me.
Its very variable though, animals that are ugly with wings I can feel and that seem to have wild flying patterns go to the top of what triggers the fear for me.
Bats and moths, things like that.
I've got a lot of extreme fears but they're all pretty rational I think.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
