Slavery isn't happening anymore (in this context). No one is responsible for their ancestors.

The same could be said about the US political parties. None of them are constituted as they were even one hundred years ago.
Yeah, the Republicans really fucked that up.

lol. Is Bear claiming that when slavers came to Africa to hunt down Bantu people that those Bantu people were running around with their Toras in their hands and yarmulkes on their heads?

Is Bear claiming that when slavers came to Africa to hunt down Bantu people that those Bantu people were running around with their Toras in their hands and yarmulkes on their heads? Yeah, even assuming that the ancient Israelites were, in fact, black (dark skinned, definitely, but given the nature of the current non-Jewish residents of the area, black may be overstating it), Africa is home to literally THOUSANDS of ethnic groups across the entire continent. To conflate the Israelites and the ethnic groups (largely Western African) that were actually taken from Africa to eventually become the present-day African-Americans, like Farrakhan does is shockingly lazy. It makes good music if you’re using it as a metaphor, but in a literal historical context, it’s lazy. It's like a native of Barcelona claiming to have been from St. Petersburg even though he was born in Barcelona, never left Spain, and as far as his geneology could tell, none of his ancestors left Spain in the hundreds of years the records have been recorded. And even if you assume that the Ashkenazi Jews of today aren't actually Jews and that this somehow makes them fair game for the sort of shit Farrakhan spews (which is more obviously bullshit), the fact remains that, whether or not you think they're True Jews, they are what society thinks of as Jews, and they make up the majority of the Jewish population, and even if Farrakhan is truly keeping the definitions straight and excluding the 150,000 Ethiopian Jews from his ramblings, bigotry is bigotry. And just because he knows what it is to be discriminated against does not indemnify him from being as bad as the racists he should, in theory, despise. And even though I think the Power Plus Prejudice Paradigm is Pedantic, Punifying, and Potentially Poisonous (if Philosophically Philanthropic) Pap even at the best of times, it especially doesn't work when he's targeting, not the majority group that kept his people down for close to four centuries now, but a minority that's spent most of their recorded history fearing for their lives.
