Facebook selectively condones inciting violence

Facebook selectively condones inciting violence
I knew free speech was being slowly removed, but this caught me by surprise. I don’t even understand how this can be legal, let alone ethical.

Quote:Do not post:

Threats that could lead to death (and other forms of high-severity violence) of any target(s) where threat is defined as any of the following:

Statements of intent to commit high-severity violence; or
Calls for high-severity violence (unless the target is an organization or individual covered in the Dangerous Individuals and Organizations policy, or is described as having carried out violent crimes or sexual offenses, wherein criminal/predator status has been established by media reports, market knowledge of news event, etc.)
...

https://m.facebook.com/communitystandard..._violence/

Fucking unbelievable. This is so blatant that it can have only one intent, in my opinion. It’s a precursor to social credit systems. Governments are going to get around free speech laws by outsourcing them to big tech. It’s already been happening with regard to censorship, but this is taking things to a whole new level. They’ve already been labelling people who disagree with their agenda as "dangerous", so this is an entirely subjective authoritarian framework. They can literally unleash mobs, if this is allowed to stand.

Facebook just so happen to be "asking for regulation", which likely means they’re trying to set up their monopoly again after rival platforms like bitchute and minds have started to gain traction. There’s no way it’s a mistake, as Facebook are lawyered up to their eyeballs, and these caveats continue all the way down the page I linked to.

These are dark times, and it’s really scary to see how quickly and obviously the agenda is unfolding now. I know I’m not welcome anymore but this news is too big not to spread. People need to avoid this evil platform like the plague now. Honestly this looks like a joke. It would be funny if it wasn’t so deadly serious. I hope this will wake up anyone who thinks that the Powers That Be have any intention of preserving our freedoms.

If anyone wants to learn more about what’s really going on in the world, drop me a PM and I’ll point you towards the channels that will enlighten you.

RE: Facebook selectively condones inciting violence
Do you take issue with their definition of Dangerous Individuals and Organizations? Are you concerned that you or people you know/sympathize with may fall under that category?

Quote:In an effort to prevent and disrupt real-world harm, we do not allow any organizations or individuals that proclaim a violent mission or are engaged in violence, from having a presence on Facebook. This includes organizations or individuals involved in the following:

Terrorist activity
Organized hate
Mass or serial murder
Human trafficking
Organized violence or criminal activity

We also remove content that expresses support or praise for groups, leaders, or individuals involved in these activities.

Terrorist organizations and terrorists
A terrorist organization is defined as:
Any non-governmental organization that engages in premeditated acts of violence against persons or property to intimidate a civilian population, government, or international organization in order to achieve a political, religious, or ideological aim
A member of a terrorist organization or any person who commits a terrorist act is considered a terrorist
A terrorist act is defined as a premeditated act of violence against persons or property carried out by a non-government actor to intimidate a civilian population, government, or international organization in order to achieve a political, religious, or ideological aim.
Hate organizations and their leaders and prominent members

A hate organization is defined as:
Any association of three or more people that is organized under a name, sign, or symbol and that has an ideology, statements, or physical actions that attack individuals based on characteristics, including race, religious affiliation, nationality, ethnicity, gender, sex, sexual orientation, serious disease or disability.
Mass and serial murderers

We consider a homicide to be a mass murder if it results in four or more deaths in one incident
We consider any individual who has committed two or more murders over multiple incidents or locations a serial murderer
We make these assessments based upon the information available to us and will generally apply this policy to a mass or serial murderer who meets any of the following criteria:
They were convicted of mass or serial murder.
They were killed by law enforcement during commission of the mass or serial murder or during subsequent flight.
They killed themselves at the scene or in the aftermath of the mass or serial murder.
They were identified by law enforcement with images from the crime.
Human trafficking groups and their leaders

Human trafficking groups are organizations responsible for any of the following:
Prostitution of others, forced/bonded labor, slavery, or the removal of organs
Recruiting, transporting, transferring, detaining, providing, harboring, or receiving a minor, or an adult against their will
Criminal organizations and their leaders and prominent members

A criminal organization is defined as:
Any association of three or more people that is united under a name, color(s), hand gesture(s) or recognized indicia, that has engaged in or threatens to engage in criminal activity, including (but not limited to)

Homicide
Drug trafficking
Arms trafficking
Identity theft
Money laundering
Extortion or trafficking
Assault
Kidnapping
Sexual exploitation (covered in section 7 and section 8)

We do not allow symbols that represent any of the above organizations or individuals to be shared on our platform without context that condemns or neutrally discusses the content.

We do not allow content that praises any of the above organizations or individuals or any acts committed by them.

We do not allow coordination of support for any of the above organizations or individuals or any acts committed by them

I'm confused as to why I should be upset by this.

RE: Facebook selectively condones inciting violence
So, I could post a video on Facebook saying “let’s all murder (known terrorist)” and I wouldn’t be violating the rules. Is that what you’re upset about? Seems like it would still be illegal to do that though...

That is kind of a weird policy. However, they may be trying to cover calls for the death penalty or war against dangerous people. Maybe?

Because the Right wing and the YouTube "rationalists " are pissy they won't be able to be utter toxic assholes  anymore and there will actually be conquences  for their words and the stuff they promote .

RE: Facebook selectively condones inciting violence
Honestly, Facebook being selective about enforcement of rules against incitement of violence stopped being surprising when I found out how they were complicit in spreading fake news in Malaysia that led to genocide against the Rohingya.

For a brief look into the selective enforcement done by Facebook, look here:

Yes, the way they enforce these rules is largely down to the bottom fucking line.

Really crazy that people don't see hypocrisy like this as a problem, rob. That being said, FB is a corporation and while they like to present themselves as left-wing or at least left-friendly, they're undoubtedly on the right; they're a multi-billion dollar company.

So I can't be surprised that a corporation is selectively enforcing anything. They have their agenda, just like any other corporation. Good thing I haven't been on FB in years and never plan to go back as it's a complete waste of my time and energy. The time spent bullshitting on media could be time spent writing, exercising, thinking about things, going out with friends, playing chess, going to martial arts classes, learning a new language, etc. Social media is for the dumb masses and even though I'm probably pretty dumb, I'm not playing into that bullshit.

I agree, weird indeed. Seems they are just simply trying to cover their asses. However, I doubt this would be enforced fairly anyways. I mean Facebook is so fucking useless in this department. I quit using Facebook on my phone becuase 1) it wastes space, and 2) I really dislike Facebook and don't want them tracking me. I think the OP has a point though with outsourcing the censoring of free speech to big tech companies. However, I wonder if anyone foresaw this back when Facebook was first catching fire in 2009.
