Yes - handguns are the " prefered weapon" of mass shooters.
They are also the prefered weapon of civilian self defense, sport shooters and arthritic grandmothers...
But you just concentrate on the smallest percentage.
It's what the left does.
For the teenth time, I don't have an issue with gun ownership. My post was not about that.
You said that handguns are the most common weapon used in mass shootings. Ok. I'm just curious as to why you referred to the Dublin smuggler's cargo as 'just handguns'. If handguns are the primary weapon used in mass shootings, wouldn't you see curtailing (not banning) their availability as at least one possible way of reducing either the number of mass shootings or the number of victims?
And before you snap off on the wrong tangent, I don't have a problem with you, personally, owning firearms. Based on your posts here, you seem to know a lot about them (more than I do, anyroad), and you seem well aware of the safety issues involved. YOU aren't the problem.
Boru
Because 99.99999 percent of handguns are NOT used in mass shootings.
The assumption that they stopped mass shootings by finding these guns is ludicrous.

I can assure you that percentage is wrong.

Edit Reason: grammar mistake
)
The USA needs to address the reasons why people want to kill other people. I believe the US system is incapable of addressing the reasons why people want to kill each other. People talk about restricting guns all the time and I see far less emphasis on the reasons why people want to shoot people in the first place.
When that incel shoot up that yoga class I didn't really hear anybody saying "this is entitlement culture, that man felt entitled to a woman's body". Yet when people want an increase to the minimum wage in the USA so they can actually earn enough to do apparently crazy things like simply feed themselves this is somehow "entitlement culture". The media in the USA is so afraid of calling out the right-wing terrorists that empowers the right-wing. When Ben Shapiro went on the BBC he was shocked that in the UK they actually do real journalism!

Here in the UK, those currently in power are not addressing the reasons why people are stabbing each other. Take away guns and people will have no problems finding other ways to kill each other. A knife attack is usually less deadly than an attack with a gun, this is true. What I'm trying to get at is that banning certain weapons isn't solving the problem of why people may be hate-filled (or prone to gang related violence) in the first place. You need to stop people from wanting to pick up that gun and going out to shoot people in the first place!
Here's some steps the USA should take to reduce deaths due to guns:
1. Having a good system of mental health services to help people with their problems (hint: a well-funded NHS style-system)
2. Not being afraid to call the people who encourage violence (e.g. Donald Trump) and for the media to not be "neutral"
when on some issues one side is clearly wrong (such the need to acknowledge that most domestic terrorism being carried out by white men and not "brown people")
3. Stopping people on the terrorist watch list from owning guns. E.g. Senate Republicans Vote To Allow Terrorists To Legally Buy Guns In The US
4. Educating people and addressing income inequality. To me it's a bit strange that some people think that immigrants are conspiring with CEOs to keep their wages down. A person coming to the USA with nothing has no power whatsoever. The American system is what's keeping wages down. e.g. Congress Hasn’t Given Minimum Wage Earners A Raise In A DECADE
Four steps that would go a long way without banning any particular weapons. I believe that when Capitalism starts to collapse Fascism grows in strength. We saw it in the 1930s. You would need to address the economic situation in the USA because the USA is collapsing.

It's a people problem.
Every " solution" the anti-gunners come up with will affect ALL gun owners - the majority of which are law abiding - and not the problem in the first place.
Then they act surprised and indignant when the pro- gun side digs in it's heels and prevents the anti's solution.
Want to fix this shit?
Go after the problem children. The assholes who do this shit, shooting places up.
The pro- gun people WILL get behind that..
Or keep trying the same old shit - and nothing will change.

TBH; white non-Muslims are quite scary, I mean from Trump to incidents like this to the conquests of America back to the crusades.....I mean hell, this is some scary stuff.
All of the terrorist acts that have affected me directly have been carried out by non-Muslim white people.
Happy?

A terrorist attack would never make me happy, but if this pointed to something it is pointing to the alarming rise of the racist right wing.
