Fuck Qassem Suleimani. Hope that missile tasted good. Guy was a terrorist disguised as a military general. Whether or not that was a smart move, tactically... I'm forced to ask why the Trump felt the need to do it in that way, at that time, in that country, so on and so forth. Doesn't seem like the smartest move, in my opinion. The guy was a piece of shit, killed Americans, killed his own people... the list is too long. But why did Trump feel the need to make that statement? Bizarre. Seems to be all about his ego. Iran ain't gonna' do shit to us. They know we'll fuck their entire region of the world up the ass for the next hundred years. But still... just seems like it was an unnecessarily brash move.

Internal tensions about Iran where the causal factor in the row that ended with Bolton being quit-fired. People had been whispering in Grandpas ear, for months, that he was weak. That everyone, including Suleimani, was laughing at him.
Additionally, there was a need to change the news cycle. I'm not sure there's any more complex reason than that. I would be immensely surprised if there were, honestly.

You mean you don't think the killing of Suleimani was the end result of serious consultations between Trump and his staff, with due consideration being given to the impact on regional stability?

I think that there were plenty of high level consultations, but the only ones between anyone of importance and trump would have centered around telling our immanently manipulable president whatever he wanted to hear that would strengthen their own position.
If anyone told him, for example, that there might be political benefit - they knew they were lying when they said it, and they knew the president would believe them.
