That means they're ignorant, not that they're flatters.

Yea ok, but still.
You can also be a "rounder" and accept the earth is a globe, but the sun goes around the earth, sure. Still scares me though.

They measured vital signs of people who were suddenly presented with a survey to complete. Most people registered in the panic range. Doesn't make for good responses.

Quote:To the question "Does the Earth go around the Sun, or does the Sun go around the Earth," 26 percent of those surveyed answered incorrectly.
That means nearly three quarters of Americans got it right. That’s a passing mark, so you should be delighted.

I'd be more happy if the number was around 95-99% correct.
It still unfortunately means that our education system is failing far too many.

Why does it take humans so damned long to accept facts on anything regarding science?

It means ~80,000,000 Americans don't know fundamental science.

And that is just a big enough number to fuck things up for the sane. Unfortunately those 80,000,000 also vote too.

No, they don’t. GS got that 80 million as a percentage of ALL Americans. Not all Americans are eligible to vote, and not all of those who are eligible actually vote.
And (I may be wrong on this) most people don’t factor in astronomy when casting a vote.
