In 2016, on the week before the election, I was in Arizona, chatting about the election in a hot tub, with mostly Republicans. They didn't like Trump, but they didn't care. Trump or not-Trump meant nothing to them. All that mattered is that Republican things would get done.
There are moderate Republicans that don't like Trump, but come election day, they always hold their nose and vote for their tribe.
The polls are off by an even larger margin in some key states than in 2016 -- all favoring Trump. I also have a feeling that the increased turnout has NOT helped Biden. Those rural counties are coming out in record numbers for Trump. Trump was right all along - voting is about culture war, not about platform.

Compassionate!
What a punchline....
Exactly what is evil about livable wages and not wanting to die because you get sick?

From what little I understand it as a 'Stinky foreigner' American's seem to veiw 'Poverty' more as a mental/state of mind thing.
Rather than, say, socioeconomic or economic problems/errors/inequalities/inequities.
But, again, what would a 'Dumb Skip' know all the way on the other side of the world?

Yeah sure... And burning down people's buisnesses because your panties are in a wad is a great show of "compassion"....
And - if minimum wage works so well - why do they have to keep jacking it up?
It was $1.35 when I started working. Now they want $15 bucks to ask "you want fries with that?".
It's political felatio by proxy - sucking off a voter with somebody else's money.
You're not even happy with minimum wage - you want "a living wage. Guess what dumbass ?- that's still the bottom of the barrel. If you think you're going to support a family on that - you deserve to be at the bottom - because you're stupid.

Manufacturing has mostly left the U.S. Most new jobs are now service industry jobs, which usually give minimum wage.
If you are going to tell the majority of new job seekers that they are stupid and deserve to be at the bottom, go ahead. That's a not a great strategy for the future.

Paying people wages higher than they are worth - just to soothe somebody else's warped sense of fair play is an even worse strategy.
People should be paid commiserate with the work they do.

Thought experiment. How horrible (in your estimation) would it be, OLB, if the cute little slogan you're arguing against were actually true?
What if...for example...and I'm just spit-balling here, people weren't adequately compensated for their time?

Yeah, why does the minimum wage have to go up every so often? That would only make sense if the cost of living keeps increasing, and the value of the dollar keeps decreasing with time, but surely that doesn’t happen in real life.

Lol, I was actually just about to bring that up. OLB’s $1.35 would equal more than $11.00/hour now. So, we’re talking about an increase - for a full-time worker - of $4.00 per hour, or about $8000 per year.
I think that would make a significant difference in quality of life for a lot of people.

I've known a bunch of minimum wage workers over the years - and NEVER did I hear a minimum wage worker cheer about getting a few extra sheckels a month. Without fail - in a month or two they were right back to paycheck to paycheck....
It is political felatio. Nothing more.
