It's not the same. Spay and neuter can greatly reduce cancer risks in cats and dogs.
Declawing has no benefit.
Lets get real here. If you eat any sort of animal meat, be it cow, pig or chicken egg, and you object to cats or dogs having any sort of surgery, you lost me.
It is absolutely true, if a cat owner allows the cat outside, it is far better they don't declaw them. But, the problem with outdoor cats is that they face other animals, like possums, and squirrels, and other feral dogs or cats. In that case, the cat needs their claws to fight back, and or escape up a tree.
But, as a cat owner, why would one let them outside the house? Steve Irwin had an entire zoo of cobras, crocs, tigers, kangaroos, ect ect. And that zoo constantly put animals under drugs and surgery to save their lives.
If one is willing to put an animal under for other surgery, outside declawing, or spay or neutering, say if they have cancer, then how do you think the pet will know?
Spaying and neutering and declawing are not cruel.

Because it's a natural action, and without claws, they can't exercise their back and neck muscles normally.
Declawing is so wrong. It is illegal in a lot of countries. I support its ban in the USA fully. It's not medically ethical to declaw cats and there is a growing number of veterinarians who will not do this surgery. They take a vow that starts with "first, do no harm". This is clearly doing harm.
If The Flintstones have taught us anything, it's that pelicans can be used to mix cement.

My cat is 13 years old, he is happy as hell. I also keep him inside too.

Beg to differ. Declawing hurts physically and emotionally.

I really hate the bullshit objection to pet surgery. Humans get anesthesia all the time.

First time I got fentanyl I was out cold for eight straight hours. They weren't entirely sure they would be able to wake me up. I told this to same hospital when I went in for a different procedure. Only out cold for three hours that time. Boss Lady was a bit huffy. Luckily I had her declawed after the wedding.

I am glad you were declawed before my hurricane.
But what the fuck were you doing with fentanyl?

Eye surgery first time, prostatectomy via cryoablation the second time. I was in a hospital both times. I presumed that meant medical professionals were around somewhere. Boss Lady said the second time I patted her on the ... front. She had waved the nurses off.

The objection is to pet mutilation, not pet surgery.

Can we object to using loaded terms in a discussion?
Or would I get my balls cut off?
