No, lol.

I guess I just have to ask flat out...this nutball may be thick enough to imagine that it's an attempt to establish a religion...but what about learning indigenous beliefs or songs and how they bring the lived experience of those people to life, in a course curriculum for ethnic studies...smacks of the establishment of a religion...to you?

The Aztecs just want your bloody heart removed from your body. Not much different from what serial killers do, I suppose.

With serial killers it's a hobby.

With the Aztecs, a profession

It was very different. Ritual sacrifice was nexttlahualli - the repayment of debt. They believed that they were kickstarting the sun, returning favor that had been done for them. It was the soul that they were after, which they believed resided in the heart. With the notable exception of the events of mesoamerican collapse, it was an honor that people would volunteer for and a burden that aztec society bore on the shoulders of it's own population. This is what it meant for them to be the people of the sun.

As another poster mentioned..if this all sounds absurd and brutal, our contemporary comparison is murdering some poor jew to cover for all the times you shook your pecker one too many times.

Does it? So we should stop all archaeological excavations in Egypt because it get one closer to the religion of the Pharoahs. We should stop all attempts to discover their texts and language as spoken way back then, right?

Of course not. Such exercises (including the school class to which you refer) are not attempts to somehow re-establish any dead religion. They are attempts to understand how such ancient civilisations actually worked.

And you know this yourself. Has the study of the norse mythos made you somehow believe in Odin or Loki? Of course not.

Do people recreate the associated rituals today? Of course they do.

You have made an absurd claim, and now that it has been pointed out, you are attempting to double down.

Grow up.

Anyone remember the Atheist Experience? I can remember a story that I think either a caller told about himself or Matt Dillahunty told about someone he knew who was very pro-school prayer. He felt comforted when he went to a local school and found that their local football team prayed before every game. He did a complete 180 once he found out that it was actually a traditional Hawaiian player and not a Christian one.

I wish I could find it, but it was practically in the stone ages of YouTube.

-and it sounds like witchcraft to the nutbar who makes the disingenuous complaint out of his genuine frustration that the left exists..but in mere reality, it's neither.

You can chant all sorts of prayers (and to all sorts of gods) in american schools, and not only does that not amount to a religion - it's legal. He complains, very obviously, that it is illegal for him to do what he wants to do, that public schools will not help him create the society he wishes to see - and so to rail against the injustice of that, he insists that others are doing it. It's never not projection.
