Non-Alcoholic Beer
Anyone ever try it?

I was thinking about giving it a go.

Not a beer drinker myself but my father-in-law switched to it when he was told he was on the verge of diabetes. That, and some other dietary changes, kept him from needing to supplement insulin for many years. He seemed fine with it.

I've tried it. I don't recall being impressed. If you're looking for it to be "just like beer" then I think you'll be disappointed.

The reason I ask is because of my newly discovered propensity for gout, which prohibis me from drinking alcohol.

I figure non-alcoholic beer might be a good alternative.

Never seen the point of it, personally.

If you're going to drink beer, you may as well get the effects.

I discovered my propensity for gout after a steak, bacon and wine/Meade binge mini years ago. It’s a combination of the red meat and sugars and tannin that trigger my gout. Now if I plan on a few glasses it’s always with fish. If u actually like beer try finding one lower in sugar and adjust your diet some to compensate. If it flares. Up I always have a bottle or 2 of pure black cherry juice. It’s a laxative, but I drink a 16 oz all at once and it really helps manage.

RE: Non-Alcoholic Beer
In addition to occasional alcohol, I regularly drink nonalcoholic beer. There's a supermarket-brand lager that I like, and a Canadian nonalcoholic craft beer called Partake that comes in four varieties (currently I have their IPA in the fridge).

I've been looking for a good-tasting nonalcoholic red wine as well, but they all taste too sweet and not particularly wine-like. Every. Damn. One. Why is it that there are so many good nonalcoholic beers out there, and such a dearth of realistic-tasting wines?

I tried it when I had to drive, it was usually referred to as LAWP
