Global warming: Are we doomed? A poll.

RE: Global warming: Are we doomed? A poll.
-and just to get in front of the next one, I couldn’t rule out part of your bat shit craziness including the belief that these programs or indeed the entire agencies are or should be “fantasy”....but I just can’t take a position anything even remotely like that seriously. There are better ways to make our stuff. From food on up, not hypothetically, if someone would only invent them. Ways that exist and are in use and make more money than conventional methodologies but require a different set of skills or infrastructure or both than the common producer has at their disposal. I like to think I have more impact helping to resolve that situation than buying some rinky dink residential toys.

So just again for reference. I know that we have the tools to deal with climate change in this sector, and that even if we didn’t have to worry about climate change we’d be transitioning to them now anyway. The #1 cause for the delay in that transition is the same kind of batshit you come here to grace us with, and that, IMO is what could get us killed.

Rinky dink residential toys?

You do realize that you are talking about the exact same technology - just at a reduced scale? AND it would be MORE efficient generating locally - as you would eliminate transmission line loss.

It either works - or it doesn't.

You don' t get to play both sides of the fucking fence.

I’m not a solar installer, are you waiting for me to pitch you or something?

He has trouble dealing with scale. Too bad for him remains a fact coal is cheaper then fossil fuels even without  subsidies

Madagascar is currently going through severe droughts which have led to an almost total disappearance of food sources, people are starving, and global warming is to blame.

So you can imagine if there are more droughts and more desertification around the world there will be more people starving, and considering that just in Canada is 49°C or 121°F it's not hard to see the situation getting more desperate.

They claim, but I've not seen anybody demonstrate working CC&S technology. It's a bit like cold fusion, theoretically possible, but practically unworkable.

From two years ago:
Quote:Carbon capture and storage (CCS) facilities are considered as key contributors to emissions reduction, with 18 of the world’s large-scale CCS plants currently capturing approximately 40 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of carbon dioxide (CO2), according to The Global CCS Institute.

From seven years ago:
Quote:Around the world in 22 carbon capture projects

It took me mere minutes to find these and they aren't the only ones. Unlike cold fusion, CCS is already here and functioning.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

God told humans that they should never breed but with a "contract" and the male paying the female.
But the majority ignored the advice, and kept breeding like roaches.

Here's the result.

Why do you have to, like most theists, of every religion attach our survival, our successes and or failures to a sky hero?

We are an invasive species, but that is not because a super cognition exists, or favors one sex  over another.

And what is with the crap of " the male playing the female"?

If anything in our species history has caused more problems than it has solved, it would be testosterone. Nurture is part of human evolution, and men are just as capable of being sensitive and empathy and the desire to avoid conflict, and the gentleness of cotton and silk, when we want. And women are just as capable of being breadwinners, and protectors and even warriors.

I fucking hate gender roles.

I love being a wimp. I wish most humans were wimps. There would be a shitload less violence in the world.
