Hi everyone I may pop in and out now and again. Though I feel quite a bit better getting away from the forum for a bit. Though I'll likely be here less consistently to avoid another burnout.  

Now as for the subject 

Insurrections are not defined by the death toll or damage done. They're defined by the goals of the insurrectionists. The goal of the Jan 6 insurrectionists was to prevent a wing of the government from performing their duty and overriding a fair and free election and attempting to kill members of the government based on a lie invented by the president of the United States and at his behest. If that's not an Insurrections I don't know what is. None of these conditions are met by the uprising of 1967, And it's telling someone needs to go back to freaking 1967 to downplay the severity of the greatest domestic threat to American democracy in recent memory. Disgusting 

And FYI No Trump, No Big Lie, No capital storming, No dead guard. He is to blame by all evidence we have.

His while shtick during this whole thing is to either downplay it or desperately compare it to things that are nothing like it. He thinks riots and street violence are on par with trying to overturn an election

There are valid reasons for using historical events as a reference or for precedent, but it's a hilarious stretch to compare the 1967 riots to the 1/6 capitol insurrection.  About the only thing they both have in common is that violent mobs rioted and did a lot of damage.  Comparing the extent of the damage is not relevant.  Comparing the intent and potential outcome of the rioting is irrelevant because no one in 1967 had the intent or potential to overthrow the federal government and install a despot.  This is how countries transition from republics to dictatorships.  That is precisely what the 1/6 insurrection was about, an attempted coup.  Ham-fisted it was and unlikely to succeed, but I don't recall ineptitude being an excuse for breaking the law.

That's not even close to accurate.  Clinton polled very popular just a few years before 2016 and led most polls against projected Democrat AND Republican contenders.  It wasn't a matter of Democrats having to have Hillary so much as Hillary running an extremely strong campaign, so much so that many qualified Democrats hesitated to join the race.  Hillary's real Achille's heal was Bernie and the under 30 voters, who saw her as too entrenched.
