Take your own advice buddy. Take a nice big dose of Xanax and take some Preparation H for the butthurt.

Whatever/however the set(s) of people (see what I did there) want to be identified, I'll do it in that moment and try not to be offensive (even though my ignorance if often taken for offense). But typically I don't connect for more than a moment. I find there is little in common and most overly self absorbed and think I should be interested, which I'm usually am not. So I'll be polite in the moment then move along. And I probably get labeled when I don't engage but life's to short to care.

I don't think I did. But maybe I missed the point...
My points were: don't worry too much about social pressure (shit you hear on the media counts here). Gender norms are kinda dumb. Just treat people with respect, and don't worry.
If I'm missing the point, could you be more specific? What exactly is bothering you?
My point is that the media ( in this case it was NPR) takes the whole gender issue to ridiculous levels.
When you find it necessary to call the pregnant " people" instead of some feminine address as is almost always( but not quite) exclusively female - it becomes ridiculous.

Fair enough.
Just don't do it then. I won't hold it against you. I've been saying "pregnant lady" for so long, I doubt I could break the habit either.

If you are confused about someone's gender, don't worry about it. If you don't know what to say, ask "what are your pronouns". Or don't. It's all on you. There's nothing holding you back from not being "PC". If you want to call everyone you pass on the street a cunt, do it. Get down with your bad self. And by all means, complain about things that don't concern you, like the genders of other people. The consequences are yours alone.
If The Flintstones have taught us anything, it's that pelicans can be used to mix cement.

Meanwhile, you made an entire thread to bellyache about people using a gender-neutral term. Yeah NPR are the ones being ridiculous here

So you got triggered by them using the word people and you saying their being ridiculous
But this makes sense after the name of a bill triggered you so why not other words?
