So, something more like, “are we still holding the Latin American community to something said over 60 years ago, when they still thought allying themselves with the white supremacist power structure was a good idea? Long before the civil rights movements of the 1960s petered out because everyone splintered into their own little movements and became too busy fighting each other to unite against a common enemy?”

And we just went from comparing civil rights orgs like LULAC to prison gangs? Do prison gangs have any actual political power in the US? When's the last time the Crips or the Bloods sent lobbiers to Congress? Or is your argument that "if one person in a particular ethnic aggregate does something indefensible, that means they're all bad?" Is that why you defend Bill Cosby? To keep the reputation of black people from being sullied?
