Those folks will never truly be done until they're physically loaded in a russian cannon and fired for lack of shells.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It's possible (not proved, not certain, - just possible) that Russia, not content with getting its arse handed to it by Ukraine, has begun bombing itself.
Russian Missile Strikes Russia
Quote:The incident took place in the Turkmen district of the Stavropol region on Wednesday according to the Ukrainian military center, which said that when emergency responders tried to control the flames, an explosion took place on the ground, injuring six people.
Russian media channels said the object was a Ukrainian Tu-141 Strizh reconnaissance drone, but the Ukrainian military center said that the wreckage found at the site of the explosion "does not support this version."
Quote:Images of the aftermath of the incident led Twitter users to note similarities between the wreckage of the aircraft and the Russian Kinzhal missile, in particular, the winglets and the separation mechanism of the weapon's booster, according to online publication Aerotime.

My guess: Ukraine will take a couple of weeks to consolidate their northern gains and regroup their units, and then drive south to split Kherson and Mariupol.

That's a fair prediction. I doubt Russia will be able to mount much of a counter anytime soon as they got absolutely thumped over the two weeks.

This might be old news, but it's new to me. There was a Russian singer I listen to occasionally named Vladimir Vysotsky. He's kind of somewhere between Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits, but he never made the leap to the West. And I wound up on a fan site of his and I immediately got this message (cut for brevity):
Quote:All that you need to know about today’s Russia and its poet Vysotsky:
On May 9, 2022, the District Court of the Kirovsky District of St. Petersburg found citizen Irina Kustova guilty under the article “Public actions aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation” [...] for an offense committed by her on the same day.
On this day, the Russian Federation celebrates the state holiday of the Russian Federation, “The Day of the Victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in 1945”. Irina Kustova, being in her apartment with an open window, turned on a loud performance of Vladimir Vysotsky’s song “Soldiers of the Center Group”, [...]
The court recognized this phrase and the lyrics of the song as “aimed at discrediting the use of the Russian Armed Forces in a special military operation in Ukraine.”
[...] She fully admitted her guilt and repented of her deed.
Please note: The distribution of this message on the Internet falls under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, “Inciting recognition or enmity”, which provides for imprisonment for a term of 2 to 5 years.
The song in question:
Comparing the Universal Oneness of All Life to Yo Mama since 2010.
I was born with the gift of laughter and a sense the world is mad.
