In my opinion, the Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) would have done more for World Peace.

Who's talking about world peace? We're not concerned with that anymore than we're concerned with ukranian lives or busted powerplants. This is proxy war. Fuckin a, why can't I get anyone to take proxy war seriously?

A lot of non-military spending has also taken place, probably, another 20 to 30 billion.
Ok, let’s be generous and round it all the way up to 100 billion (it’s not nearly that). That makes it about four tenths of one percent of the US GDP (and, as Nudger pointed out, it’s actually less than that).

Fundamentally, the idea that money is coming out of -anyone's- account for weapons we didn't build today or even this year is a bit backward. Everyone involved in making that stuff already got paid, and now there's a hole to fill. The only man in the chain who would still even touch this thing for money is the artilleryman that fired it, and I don't think he minds the round being shipped to ukraine without him...and he is also, ofc, still getting paid.
Now, with that in mind, there still are a ton of questions like the one asked earlier about inflation which, imo, is directly related to why we believe the things we do about ukraine. We do we believe those things, why are our interest rates going up, and why did a gas tax holiday in florida end directly before voting began?
