You know, this just reminded me, about two weeks ago on a Saturday night I was driving by an Evangelical church, and inside I could see a bunch of people in their early twenties standing by the glass door of the church. Poor bastards being kept in the church on a Saturday night, probably brainwashed to think that any fun was evil.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The Catholic Church is all pro-life, unless two married fellows, or two married gals show up looking to adopt a child. Then the Church says fuck you, the kid can stay in the orphanage. And Catholic Answers Live almost snaps in two backwards defending that.

Pope 'wants me dead' says Becciu
Cardinal Angelo Becciu, the highest ranking Vatican cleric to be tried for financial crimes, told his family in a recent chat that Pope Francis wanted him dead, La Repubblica and Corriere della Sera dailies reported online Friday.
"He wants me dead" and "I didn't think we'd get to this point" were two of the comments reportedly made public by the Vatican's promoter of justice Wednesday in the trial into alleged mismanagement of Vatican funds including a London property on Sloane Avenue.
Pani also writes to Becciu: "He's bad, he wants your end," referring to "su Mannu", Sardinian for "the big guy" and therefore the pope.
The cardinal replies: "He doesn't want to make a bad impression over the initial conviction he gave me" and also "I would never have imagined that a man, let alone a pope, would go so far".
Pani replies to this: "He's a great coward, but you fight and let your truth shine out, it's hard I know, courage, we'll win fully", and adds: "there's something rotten in the Vatican".
The messages were intercepted by finance guards from Oristano.

Pope Francis accused by Mary McAleese of ‘ludicrous lack of logic’ in comments on women priests
Pope Francis has been accused of “misogynistic drivel” by the former president of Ireland, Mary McAleese, following an interview with a United States-based Catholic magazine where he said women are not being deprived by being denied the right to become priests.
“And why can a woman not enter ordained ministry? It is because the Petrine principle has no place for that,” pope said. “That the woman does not enter into the ministerial life is not a deprivation. No. Your place is that which is much more important and which we have yet to develop, the catechesis about women in the way of the Marian principle,” he said.
However, the interview prompted a sharp response from Mrs McAleese. In a short email to the Vatican addressed to the Pope, she said: “It was reassuring and gratifying to observe the utter impenetrability of the reasons you offered, their ludicrous lack of logic or clarity, in short the fact that you offered just more unlikely misogynistic drivel.”
Continuing, she said: “So nothing new then and nothing to fear. Thank you for giving us something to laugh at. If you ever come up with a serious and credible reason please do not hesitate to let us know. Meanwhile keep rambling on. It is such fun and the fun has almost gone out of faith! Best wishes and renewed thanks. Mary McAleese.”

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Płock has apologised for the behaviour of one of its priests, who pressed a pupil against a desk and allegedly twisted his arm during a religion lesson at a school for children with special needs. Video of the incident sparked outrage after it was obtained by a media outlet.
According to the station, the video, which shows the priest demanding that the student “apologise to God”, was sent in by the mother of another pupil.
“The worst thing is that this priest has behaved strangely before. The kids [are] disabled, [so] no one would believe them, but now we have a recording,” said the mother of the girl who filmed the incident.
She also claimed that, after the priest found out about the recording, he called to warn the girl and her mother that “there would be consequences” if it was published, including the possibility of her being expelled from school.

Two nuns charged after report on abuse of disabled children in care home
Two nuns who work at a care home have been charged by prosecutors after journalists documented widespread alleged abuse of disabled children at the facility located in Jordanów, a town of 5,000 in southern Poland.
The nuns allegedly tied children to beds, locked them in cages, and beat them with a mop on a daily basis, according to an investigation published today by news website Wirtualna Polska, which also showed images and videos allegedly from inside the care home.
The children were called names and humiliated. The nuns and some of the lay caregivers allegedly addressed pupils with such phrases as “your mother is a prostitute” and “if you are bad, you will get f***ing beaten up”.
The story came to light when former workers of the care home and parents of children who had stayed there decided to tell journalists about the abuse after one of the nuns allegedly beat a 13-year-old girl.
