Russia and Ukraine
RE: Russia and Ukraine
LOL, yeah, I cant wait to see the mission accomplished banner spread out over the rubble where bakhmut once stood. In retrospect, they've gotta be wondering why they ever thought they could pull off this invasion. They're having trouble properly invading a single town with their entire military committed.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Note that it crashed when the war started, then "recovered" for a while and is now at lower value than before they invaded Ukraine.

Russian TV Suggests Finland, Poland, Baltics Want to Rejoin 'Mother Russia'

Kremlin propagandist Vladimir Solovyov looked back to centuries past in claiming that Moscow's European neighbors wish to "rejoin the Russian empire."

On his evening show on the Russia 1 channel, Solovyov first said the "main Russophobes" are Poland and the Baltic nations.

"They have formed an alliance of the resentful former provinces liberated in vain by the Russian empire and say that they now have an alliance, they are now all together, Poland, the Baltics, the Finns. And Romania has been dragged into it," he said.

"So they want to rejoin the Russian empire in a complicated way," he said, adding that Finland and Poland "were developing fine when they were part of the Russian empire."

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

‘Liberated…by the Russian empire’ is the most screamingly funny thing I’ve heard in a while.

I don't know what history he's been reading, but all those nations detest Russia due to past invasions and seizures and illegal annexations.

Russia’s military spending is currently hiding the contraction of the economy. Everyone seems to agree that economic sanctions have clearly started to have visible impact now.

My concern is increasingly shifting toward China. There seems to be a division of opinions on the issue of Taiwan. On one hand the island is a flourishing democracy since 1990, and the 20 million or so population does not want anything to do with the Gerontocracy of mainland China. On the other hand, The Island is still culturally Chinese. So just like the issue of Ukraine, it’s about politics but it’s also about cultural identity.

So the French president Macron has attracted a lot of criticism because of his discourse that is found to be too China friendly. On the other hand, many view it as a good-cop / bad-cop attitude toward China in order to make them put pressure on Russia to finally end this meaningless war in Ukraine.

Here is the full article, I think it’s interesting:

Is taiwan is "still culturally chinese" like ukraine was "still culturally russian" then china might want to give up any dreams of clawing back that island.

Russia is losing the war to the point where Putin has had to cancel his beloved World War II victory parade because they don't have the tanks. Every single scrap of metal is needed and sent to their genocidal invasion of Ukraine.
