BTW, your argument against AWTY is a bad fucking straw man any way. There are reasons we require licensing for driving and are constantly amending laws and regulations for automobile safety. Something conspicuous only in it's absence concerning safety in gun ownership.

How could it not? Because the majority of gun deaths in america are suicides. Preventing mentally unwell people from accessing firearms to kill themselves will not turn other people into murderers. That shit...is ludicrous. It's also... already.... broadly illegal by state and federal law for crazy to have a gun in the us.
However, none of this is even remotely relevant to mass shootings. As mass shooters are not fetish serial killers looking for mentally unwell people, nor are they mentally ill themselves. They are terrorists. In the Us. In Norway. In Macedonia. In Serbia. Are we going to correctly diagnose this problem, as you suggested, or what?

I conclude from klecks super solid study that a whole lot of people are drawing guns on people, and not much else. Seems like a pretty strong argument for gun control.
