Iran is an oil-rich country who can’t feed its own population. They produce Shaheed Drones + Nuclear weapons. And that’s about it.
North Korea is selling its own population to China to work in slavery-like conditions in the production of textile products of some famous European trademarks.
Countries like Egypt / Morocco / Jordan are not very powerful countries and are not democratically governed, but these are still sovereign states that need to be respected. Still, places like Venezuela / Haiti / Cuba / Syria or even Iraq are not what I would call “real countries”. I see these places as some sort of void areas that are created by the limited global geopolitical understanding of our times. George W Bush called them “Rogue countries”. I call them “empty spaces”
Putin's "Russia" is different than Soviet "Russia".
Soviet Russia had different tactics than Putin's Russia.
Soviet Russia was an imperialist superpower, while Putin's Russia is a member of a bigger alliance that includes "China-North Korea-Iran,...(other countries we don't yet know).
Soviet Russia fought for the USSR only, but Putin's Russia fights for the bigger alliance I just mentioned.

No, the U.S "retreated" just like Vietnam and lost Billions, we mentioned that in an old post.
Back to Putin's Russia.
I don’t agree with that. I was born in 1981. I visited Bulgaria in the time of the socialist dictator Todor Jivkov (1919-1998). I saw people with Turkish origin queuing in front of our embassy to get a visa to Turkey. I saw the very same people moving back to Bulgaria after the end of communism when Bulgaria became a part of the EU in 2007.
What your generation doesn’t know is the issue of true communism. So yes, Stalin was a dictator and a mass murderer. But there is an element that makes him different from Putin (or even Mussolini). Stalin was a believer in what we call “Proletariat dictatorship”. So live was not very easy in Bulgaria in the end of the 80’s. But people had more money than they could afford. In east Germany for instance people were queuing for something. When you asked them what they were waiting for, they would tell you that “if all these people are waiting there has to be something at the end of the queue”.
Here’s a picture of the first McDonald’s restaurant that opened in Moscow in 1991:
+ in socialist countries you had free electricity, healthcare, education, working hours were something like 30 hours a week. Of course it was totally hypocritical in the bottom. But we in West (people from the left-wing of the political spectrum) we still believed in the Soviet Utopia etc.
The reason why Gorbatchev ended it all was that he saw that hypocrisy and decided it was time to end it once and for all (see: Final scene of Rocky IV: with Rocky Balboa saying “We can all change”).
On Afghanistan: In North-Western Syria female Kurdish fighters I able to push these sons of ….s back. I could push them back with some other people + some basic weapons. They are barbarians who can only terrorize unarmed local populations. The US decided (and I don’t agree with that decision) to pull back because the entire effort was very demanding in terms of finances. It was nothing like Vietnam where they were facing a real army that was backed by a very patriotic population. It wasn’t even like the Soviet pullout out of Afghanistan which was also a mainly patriotic type of war at the time.
And I don’t know more on that. There are probably other people in this forum with better explanations
On the void Status of Countries like North Korea:
Kim Jong Un banned suicide and called it an "act of treason against socialism,"

These are the assholes he's justifying. Now, had the Israelis broken the Aswan Dam, might you imagine his righteous indignation at anyone telling Egyptians, "you're on your own"? This is bias caught in action.
Defending "Gog & Magog/ Russia + China" is not my business, I just point to the tactic similarity between them and the Western powers.
In other words, they are different faces of the same coin.
I'm warning of this false flag fashion because "Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant" is within reach of 2 evil superpowers (Russia and the West) who utilize false flags to serve their war propaganda.
When the nuclear plant explodes (either by Gog/Magog:Russia or by Ukranians), nuclear war will start. Then the domino pieces will tick, and I don't believe in a fair aftermath: it will be apocalypse.
It's not a local, regional war anymore. This is a world war.

The Quranic verse that states the advent of Gog/Magog is 1400 years old, stated in the Quran.
I have no relationship with mentioning it; the author of the ancient Quran does, though.
Russians are historically known as the "Golden Horde":
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Horde
Quote:The westernmost lands occupied by the Mongols, which included what is today southern Russia and Kazakhstan, were given to Jochi's eldest sons, Batu Khan
=====
Chinese are historically "the Mongols":
Quote:By 1279, the Mongol ruler Kublai Khan had established the Yuan dynasty in China and crushed the last Song resistance, which marked the onset of all of China under Yuan rule. This was the first time in history that the whole of China was unified by non-Han people, and it marked the first time in history when Tibet was unified with the rest of China.[1]
Together, China and Russia are indeed the Mongols.
Here is some reference:
https://corpus.quran.com/concept.jsp?id=gog-and-magog
Personally I don’t know about the Biblical Gog and Magog.
In the Quran this is mentioned in the Surah called Kehf (69/18). The Verse Number is 94.
Here there is a person called Dhu al-Qarnayn (tr. Zülkarneyn)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhu_al-Qarnayn
This Surah is about the life of the prophet Moses between the time he was banished from the palace of the pharaoh, and the time he became a prophet. (If I am correct), he is now meeting his spiritual teacher called Zülkarneyn who does strange things in front of him but tells Moses not to ask him anything. Finally Moses breaks down and asks him why he did certain things, Than Zülkarneyn is explaining. Then on Verse 94 (of the Surah Kehf) this Zulkarneyn explains how he is sharing “technology” with a group of people (in some place) to build a wall to stop “Yecuc and Mecuc” (or Gog and Maggog [?]).
Zulkarneyn tell this people: “Yecuc and Mecuc are strong, yet the knowledge that was granted to me by my creator is greater. You shall only provide me with your physical power, make me a fire, bring me coal tar and iron, and I shall build a very strong defense between you and Yecuc and Mecuc”
Explanation: Enlightened beings have these abilities (think of Noah’s Ark for instance). The Quran is full of stories in which “Truth deniers” are brought to face “The greater power” in this manner.
Anyway. These are not the subject of the Holly Book. We read the Koran for inspiration. If you want prophesies you can read Nostramus etc. I old-fashion Muslim would tell you that it’s a sin to try to interpret the words of God the way you are going it

Meanwhile, here in the real world:
Quote:Ukrainian forces conducted counteroffensive operations in at least four areas of the front on June 10. Russian sources reported Ukrainian activity in Luhansk Oblast near Bilohorivka.[1] Ukrainian Eastern Group of Forces Spokesperson Colonel Serhiy Cherevaty noted that Ukrainian forces advanced up to 1,400m in unspecified areas of the Bakhmut front, and Russian milbloggers reported Ukrainian advances northwest and northeast of Bakhmut.[2] The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) and other Russian sources claimed that Ukrainian troops conducted localized attacks in the Donetsk-Zaporizhia Oblast border area, particularly in the Velyka Novosilka area.[3] Geolocated footage posted on June 10 additionally indicates that Ukrainian forces in western Zaporizhia Oblast made localized gains during counterattacks southwest and southeast of Orikhiv, and Russian milbloggers continued to claim that Russian forces in this area are successfully defending against attempted Ukrainian advances.[4]
Russian forces in Zaporizhia Oblast are continuing to defend against Ukrainian attacks in accord with sound tactical defensive doctrine. A Russian milblogger claimed that Russian defensive operations in southern Ukraine are relying on three main components: early detection and destruction of Ukrainian assault formations, massive use of anti-tank weapons, and mining of territories near Russian defensive positions.[5] The milblogger claimed that minefields have a twofold effect by initially damaging Ukrainian armored vehicles when they attempt to breakthrough the minefield and then again when they retreat from the area.[6] ISW previously assessed that Russian forces responded to the start of Ukrainian counteroffensive operations in western Zaporizhia Oblast following established Russian doctrine, which calls for a first echelon of troops to repel or slow attacking forces with minefields, fortifications, and strongpoints, and a second echelon of forces to counterattack against any enemy breakthrough.[7] Russian reporting of Ukrainian assaults in southern Ukraine in recent days suggests a pattern in which Ukrainian forces conduct limited breakthroughs and temporarily occupy new positions before Russian forces later recapture or push Ukrainian forces out of those positions.[8] This tactical pattern indicates that Russian forces have likely maintained doctrinally sound defensive operations in southern Ukraine, though as ISW previously reported, defending units of the 58th CAA are likely some of the most effective Russian units currently deployed in Ukraine.[9]

It's hard going. Ukraine is not planning for a three day operation. For non-junkies wondering why ukraine would elect to attack the most heavily defended front, it's super simple. Success on that axis represents complete strategic victory. They can chip away here, and cut a bit there - but a push to the azov effectively ends russian occupation - or, if we prefer...leaves no practical justification for or ability to occupy ukraine anywhere else.

Right, once you've defeated the strength of the enemy -- and especially in such a crucial area -- the weaker flanks both east and south will be rolling up in their haste to get out of danger.

Russia will not be doing well anytime soon after this war. It really diminished itself first toward Iran, than toward China. As I said before, I don’t like to see a basically “western” nation fall into the lap of the Chinese regime like that. Russia as a post-communist democratic state had a huge economic and political potential for European countries and beyond. Now it’s all going down for the benefit of a PRC that is getting bolder and more arrogant every day.

I wouldn't worry too much. China has an even longer history of fucking things up much more hilariously. Our worries and fears about china come from the same place that our worries and fears about russia came from. Turns out, incentivized propagandists might not be telling the whole truth about the threat posed to western civilization by either country. They're often selling grenades, or timeshares in said countries.
