Ay, yay, yay, this is a sad and morbid story. There was a Catholic woman in Italy who died some 10 years ago because she refused to have cancer treatment because she was pregnant (meaning she could have been alive today if she wasn't a Catholic), and now the Catholic Church is making her a saint to, I guess, encourage other women not to have an abortion even to save their own life.

And her story is not just made into a book by the Church and translated into many languages, but it's also sad and shows how Catholic magic fails because she did all the "right" things as a Catholic woman: she met her future husband on a pilgrimage to the place of Marian apparition, waited to get married to have sex only for procreation, and then gave birth to one deformed baby after another because she didn't want to abort (and praying for a miracle), until they had a healthy one but she had gotten sick.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Biden is a 'cafeteria Catholic,' Cardinal says in rebuke

A prominent leader in the global Catholic Church has become the latest to call President Joe Biden a “cafeteria Catholic” as he urges Church leaders in the United States to fully embrace Catholic teaching.

Sarah, a Guinean prelate who has emerged as one of the more outspoken conservative voices within Catholic Church leadership, suggested that the phenomenon of “cafeteria Catholics” extends beyond the president and applies to many other “Catholic public officials.”

“Many of your Catholic hospitals and universities are Catholic in name only,” he added.

Gregory maintained that cafeteria Catholics often “choose that which is attractive, and dismiss that which is challenging.”

Gregory’s characterization of Biden as a cafeteria Catholic, which he made in an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Easter Sunday, comes as the president has faced criticism for vocally supporting abortion throughout his career despite its clear contradiction with Catholic teaching.

Let me guess, that Q-anon Jim Caviezel is the real Catholic and someone who other Catholics should aspire to.

Oklahoma Supreme Court shuts down ‘unconstitutional’ taxpayer-funded Catholic school

Last year, a state school board approved the creation of a taxpayer-supported online Catholic school — triggering a high-profile legal battle to decide whether public funds can be used to create religious schools.

On Tuesday, the state’s highest court said the contract violates the state constitution as well as the First Amendment of the Constitution.

“The framers’ intent is clear,” the court’s majority wrote. “The State is prohibited from using public money for the ‘use, benefit or support of a sect or system of religion.’”

The school is an “instrument of the Catholic church, operated by the Catholic church, and will further the evangelizing mission of the Catholic church in its educational programs,” justices wrote.

Papal arch enemy Archbishop Vigano found guilty of schism and excommunicated

Italian Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, a fierce ultra-conservative critic of Pope Francis, has been found guilty of schism and excommunicated, the Vatican's doctrinal office said on Friday.

Vigano, the papal envoy in Washington from 2011-2016, went into hiding in 2018 after alleging that the pope knew for years about sexual misconduct by U.S Cardinal Theodore McCarrick and did nothing about it.

He said the pope should resign and subsequently branded him a "false prophet" and a "servant of Satan".

In a lengthy text, Vigano referred to the pope only by his surname, "Bergoglio", and accused him of representing an "inclusive, immigrationist, eco-sustainable, and gay-friendly" Church that had strayed from its true message.

Francis has angered many conservatives by making overtures towards divorcees and the LGBT community, and by saying that mercy and forgiveness should come before the strict enforcement of Catholic doctrine.

The pope has also put himself at odds with conservatives and traditionalists by championing migrant rights and the fight against climate change, and condemning the excesses of capitalism.

Oh, the favorite Christian of the religious Right, one and only, Mel Gibson, stepped in to defend the defrocked bishop and take a dump on the Vatican and it's current king.

I guess you have to admire Mel for treating the Vatican like his bitch: he used the Pope to praise his movie and thus make it a blockbuster, but he nevertheless doesn't hide his disgust towards the Vatican and the Pope. Since then, quite a few filmmakers tried to recruit the pope to do the same for their religious movies (like Aronofsky, Scorsese, Joseph Finnes, among others) but only der Führer got the special treatment.

Quote:Mel Gibson praises Vigano, invites him to California

Mel Gibson has entered the fray with an open letter expressing his support of the disgraced and freshly-excommunicated schismatic archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano.

Gibson, whose father Hutton was an outspoken Holocaust denier and one of the first prominent sedevacantists, has long been known to share his father’s religious views, building a private traditionalist chapel on his property in Agoura Hills, California.

Now Gibson has weighed in on the Vigano affair with an open letter:

Dear Archbishop,

I’m sure you expected nothing else from Jorge Bergoglio.

I know that you know he has no authority whatsoever – so I’m not sure how this will effect you going forward- I hope you will continue to say mass & receive the sacraments yourself – it really is a badge of honor to be shunned by the false, post conciliar church.

You have my sympathies that you suffer publicly this grave injustice. To me & many others you are a most courageous Hero.

As always, you have hit the nail on the head regarding the illegitimacy of Francis. You express the core problems with the institution that has eclipsed the true church & I applaud your courage in expressing that, but more than that in maintaining fidelity to the true church!

You are a modern day Athanasius! I have all respect for the way you defend Christ & his church. I agree with you 100% that the post conciliar church of Vatican II is a counterfeit church. This is why I built a Catholic Church that only worships traditionally. You are welcome to come & say mass there anytime.

Of course being called a schismatic & being excommunicated by Jorge Bergoglio is like a badge of honor when you consider he is a total apostate & expels you from a false institution.

As you already know he has no power to excommunicate you because he is not even a Catholic.

So rejoice! I am with you & I hope Bergoglio excommunicates me from his false church also.

Catholics Sue To Overturn Michigan’s Ban On Ex-Gay Torture

A group of Catholic therapists is arguing in a federal lawsuit that Michigan’s recent ban on conversion therapy for minors limits their ability to counsel children who have questions about gender identity. Emily Jones, a Lansing-based Catholic counselor, and Catholic Charities filed the lawsuit. It claims the law banning conversion therapy – a widely discredited practice of trying to change an LGBTQ person’s sexual orientation or gender identity – violates a right to free speech and free exercise of religion.

Michigan became the 22nd state to ban conversion therapy for minors when Gov. Whitmer, who called it a “horrific practice,” signed the legislation last year.

Two Catholic priests in Ohio have practically kidnapped a baby from its parents and are trying to legally adopt him because the parents can't afford lawyers

Quote:A piece of the Steubenville family has been missing for over a year now — a 2-year-old boy who is in the temporary legal custody of two priests at the nearby St. Peter Catholic Church in the midst of an unusual and ongoing court battle for custodial rights.

The case — which began after the Pauleys sought assistance from the church to care for their son — has had a profound impact on all sides involved.

For their part, the priests — Father Timothy Huffman, the pastor of St. Peter, and Father Bradley Greer, chancellor of the Steubenville diocese and a vicar at St. Peter — claimed in court when filing for custody in December 2022 that it was in the best interest of the child to stay with them.

Meanwhile, the case has dragged on for more than 18 months.

Allegations made by Father Huffman and Father Greer in their court filings include claims that the couple watered down the baby’s formula and fed him cantaloupe and chocolate, and that Ms. Pauley “has referred to the child as a ‘little bastard’ and ‘spawn of Satan.’”

In court records, the priests also said they had spent at least $1,400 at Walmart and Walgreens on groceries and other items for the couple, and said the child was in the rectory under their care an average of four to five nights a week between the end of July and November 2022.

A judge granted temporary custody to the priests about two weeks later, specifying the child would live in the church rectory during the duration of the case.

It’s been more than a year and a half since, and the drama continues to play out in court.

Neither the Steubenville police nor the Jefferson County Department of Job and Family Services has substantiated any of the claims made in the priest's legal filings, according to court documents and JCDJFS documents.

Instead, the Jefferson County Department of Job and Family Services, which administers children services in the area, cleared the couple of having safety threats in their home and even lauded the couple as having “many strengths” in a letter from the agency dated November 2023.

The couple, who say they cannot afford an attorney, have represented themselves in court and said they plan to keep fighting for custody of the boy in what they claim is a case of religious leaders overstepping when they should have been helping.

“It's disgusting what they’ve done,” Ms. Pauley said. “It’s a disgrace to the Bible. It’s a disgrace that the bishop or anyone else would accept this … nobody warned us about these guys.”
