Quote:It's not a matter of "understanding" and to answer the second question - neither. Their position predates the modern euthanasia position by thousands of years.
While I don't have an exact answer, I do think a more accurate summary would be that secularists/atheists have a hard time understanding the value of life as it is understood in a Christian worldview.
Nah it's got nothing to do with the value of life it has to do with control like everything in religion
Quote:Right; the mortal sin being the taking of a life, hence my statement that secularists/atheists tend to fundamentally misunderstand the value that Christians' put on human life.
No we understand it fine we understand that it's nothing but desire to control other people

Yep, Christianity is an inherently white religion.

According to magic book god has personally gone on murder sprees, commanded men to and then punished them when they didn't kill enough, and even recommends abortions in the case of a suspicious husband, conveniently priced and available from the local witchdoctor at your nearest temple. So much sanctity.
IDK Marten, perhaps it's christians who misunderstand their religious beliefs, and in this, misunderstand themselves. See, it's not surprising to us that christianity is soaked in blood or when one of you nuts comes here and cosigns all sorts of horrid shit. It only seems to surprise christians, busy as they are doing the next horrid thing, I suppose.

A brief and complete summary of the christian nationalism you simp for, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

You "perceive" this, but like many things it's a false perception based on internal biases and ignorance of the actual positions held by your opponents.

2280 - Everyone is responsible for his life before God who has given it to him. It is God who remains the sovereign Master of life. We are obliged to accept life gratefully and preserve it for his honor and the salvation of our souls. We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted to us. There is no value in forcing someone who is gravely ill to live in unbearable pain so much that he wants to die.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Perhaps, but it's not a matter of what value it is to us - rather that we respect what value it intrinsically holds.
"Put on life" was the wrong way of wording it I suppose; "Are given on life" would have been more theologically correct.

The intrinsic value of life is that you have to torture someone by condemning him to a life of unbearable pain against his will.
In other words, you are full of shit.
