Yes, a certain amount of damage is likely inevitable with someone as aggressively ignorant as Trump. The best that people might be able to manage is to minimize the damage and wait for a more opportune time to reverse it all. And it will likely take more time to repair the damage than it took to inflict it.
In other words, it is a terrible situation and our choices are not what we might wish them to be.
