Yeah, like Turkey did in 2015

Quote:On 24 November 2015, a Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jet shot down a Russian Sukhoi Su-24M attack aircraft near the Syria–Turkey border. According to Turkey, the aircraft was fired upon while in Turkish airspace because it violated the border up to a depth of 2.19 kilometres (1.36 miles) for about 17 seconds after being warned to change its heading ten times over a period of five minutes before entering the airspace. The Russia Defence Ministry denied that the aircraft ever left Syrian airspace, claiming that their satellite data showed that the Sukhoi was about 1,000 metres (1,100 yd) inside Syrian airspace when it was shot down.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Awty:

I’m not sure I’m understanding your point Smile

Desse23:

That’s what I said. Ukrainian pilots are being formed on these systems in Spain, Portugal, France, the UK, the US, Germany etc.

Sometimes this is not enough. So you need French, English, American personal on the ground to help them operate these systems (or that’s what I have heard). These guys are still far away from the actual front. But technically, if one of them was killed willingly or by accident this would technically be the beginning of a worldwide conflict.  Smile

The Grand Nudger:

Still: E. Macron said a few times that he would be ready to send fighting French soldiers to Ukraine if necessary.

What is happening is that humanity is becoming less tolerant toward this type of unnecessary conflicts (and this includes conflicts like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict). In 1968, there was a revolt against Soviet Rule in Prague. The Soviets simply crushed the revolt and that was the end of the story until 1989.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prague_uprising

Putin (and the likes of him – that probably includes Netanyahu bu I am not so sure) are failing to understand this transformation in the human psyche. Putin is current reviving the policy of Red Terror that was initiated by Lenin in 1919.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Terror

He has restarted the policy of invasive psychiatric treatment for anti-war demonstrators and the supporters of free press in Russia:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/russ...33551.html

I am really getting frustrated when I read stuff like that. The problem with the Soviet Union is this: They believed that reason dictated a rational approach to governance. That rational approach was the Bolshevik Ideology. So any dissident was either a western agent of some sort or a mentally unstable person. So they sent them to psychiatric doctors who messed with their brains until they died. This was one of the darkest practices of communist era social repression in Russia.

But all of this had a purpose. They stood (or they thought they stood) for greater equality between social classes and all of this was done to maintain what was supposed to be the best form of social organization that is possible to implement in this world.

Now people like Putin, Maduro or the regime in Cuba have already discarded any remnant of these socialist ideals already. And they are applying these “communist” methods of repression freely without any form of accountability. And they think they can export these to their “zones of influence”.

Fake Messiah:

… And Russia was and still is perceived as a friendly country here. But those airplanes entered our airplanes without any warning or permission of any kind. So we have the right to take them down whenever they do that. It’s as simple as that.

"Those airplanes entered our airplanes..."  I'd like to see that.  Do they use the stairs?

Of course it is because you have a dictator in charge and all dictators end up being pals with Putin.

Or maybe you just thought that they stood for something, because you're a susceptible mark to the sort of con they were running.  I've been confronted with that possibility on a near daily basis for some time now here in the us.

ah, but when ukraine does it, it's a dangerous escalation.  It's an impediment to peace™.  Damned ukranians and their voluntary aggression against hapless invaders just going about their day to day business of looting plumbing solutions and insulated windows for the poor downtrodden folks back home. Why, they can't even take a break to drink some of the vodka left in the storefronts they've cratered because those hohol monsters have poisoned the fucking supply.

^ Poisoning the vodka was brilliant. We used to consider the USSR as formidable adversaries, back in the '80s- '00s. They've gotten stupid- bad stupid. Works for me.

Well, they got dead, is the real problem. It is very rare to find a man left standing from the initial invasion. The russians complain that they don't get proper training and that's why they look like jackasses at the front, but who would train them if their owners did care enough to block out the time between signing their names and being pushed into a meatwave?

I also don't recognize the russian forces today from my experience of them in the early oughts. This is a line of criticism is coming from inside the house, too...with russian ultranationalists observing that the regime not only destroyed the areas and people it had said it was liberating, but also destroyed the russian military in the process.

Ukraine is apparently launching a massive drone strike with unidentified weapons systems at this moment and the msm is silent. Putin, for his part, is now starving the front line of armor so that it can be reallocated to his personal defense force. Russian military leaders have called for a full mobilization, and subsequently been removed, prosecuted, or fallen out of windows. Meanwhile, in the us, the mad king has turned on the master strategist.

The us media shitting the bed on ukraine is going to be the subject of many books in future, mostly because there's no explanation other than spite and shame. They got preempted by osint on social media and never recovered. Think back to the days of embedded reporting where they spent tons of money to make war a multimedia experience....and now, with tens of thousands of hours of free and available footage, including fpv and after action reviews from both sides of the conflict, you could be forgiven as a us media consumer for thinking that nothing much at all is happening.
