Russia and Ukraine

If the US attacks Greenland, Ukraine is legally obliged to assist with the defense. That could be fun.

There is no such pact.

You are correct!

The Agreement on Security Cooperation and Long-Term Support between Ukraine and Denmark, signed February 23, 2024, stops short of obligatory military action. It is more about supplying and manufacturing arms.

Sorry you’re not going to get to see all that ‘fun’ you mentioned.

Next time, maybe do a little research before pulling falsehoods out of your arse.

That flushing sound you're hearing is your credibility going down the toilet. Not that you had much to begin with.

You know who did have an actual defense agreement with Ukraine? Russia and the US.

Here's a good big-picture look at the ongoing fiasco. The EU is saying that the promised 90 Billion Euro loan won't actually go to Ukraine. There are a lot of variables.

It's important to get beyond the Hollywood movie view of things, in which this is simply Good vs. Evil, where Dr. Evil got up one morning and decided to do a land grab. That's too simple.

Quote:This is why the Russian SMO may go down as the most pivotal geopolitical flashpoint since WWII, because it may very well be the final catalyst which brings the post-war system’s arc to its natural conclusion. I’ve said from the beginning that the SMO may very well lead to the collapse of both NATO and the EU, and—particularly with the recent Greenland saga and contradictions over who will back whom in Ukraine—we can clearly see the trajectory of NATO’s demise now playing out.

This is one of the reasons that complaints about Russian losses and sacrifices in the war are misguided: the war is about far bigger overarching consequences than simply the capture of some hard-to-pronounce mining towns in dusty Donbass. This is a climactic civilizational clash that is the result of nearly a century of build-ups, and stands to resolve major global dilemmas.

Lots of useful links here.

That's some hard cope about losing all those towns. I guess the upside is that when russia loses, they'll get to say they lost something really big and important. Wouldn't want to think it was all over dusty donbas.

LoL, yeah right, it is too simple to look at Russia as Dr. Evil when we should look at Russia as Austin Powers and the US as Dr. Evil.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

For those fantasizing about a NATO fracture following an American attack on Greenland:

Quote:Senate Republicans are vowing to block any effort by President Trump to seize Greenland by military force, as Trump officials on Wednesday refused to back off their demands to control the island during a meeting with top diplomats at the White House.

Republican senators are flummoxed by Trump’s insistence that he’s willing to use military force to seize control of Greenland from Denmark, something they fear will destroy the NATO alliance and give Russia a bigger advantage in its war against Ukraine.

Two Republican senators — Sens. Thom Tillis (N.C.) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) — plan to travel to Copenhagen on Friday to assure the Danish prime minister that there would be strong Republican opposition to any effort by Trump to use military force to seize Greenland.

“I’m going to remind them that we have coequal branches of government and I believe that there [is a] sufficient number of members, whether they speak up or not, that are concerned with this,” Tillis said of Trump’s threats.

“The actual execution of anything that would involve a taking of a sovereign territory that is part of a sovereign nation, I think would be met with pretty substantial opposition in Congress,” he said.

Yeah, reality is more complex. Here Dr. Evil was waking up and deciding on aggressive action many times before current imperialist aggression.
