Having been on Muslim forums, my experience is that atheists have to be like mice to avoid getting banned and they pile up on you in the introduction section just for saying you're an atheist. I saw absolutely no presumption of respect. I'm a member in good standing only because I wasn't there to do what Zakir has done: tell them they're wrong and demand they justify why they don't hold my position. We are already showing Christians and Muslims more respect than they show us: we let them try to make their case and don't ban them for such offenses as: disrespecting atheism, asserting God exists, saying something admiring about God or Jesus or Mohammed. It's not because we're better, we just aren't offended by stuff like that. We're offended by people who can't be bothered to try to do a good job of arguing with us. Seriously, it's about the only thing I see us griping about: bad arguments.

Thus the reason why I pointed out the usual theist n00b posts:

#1 - step in and claim you used to be an atheist (Damascus road conversions are still very popular with this crowd)
#2 - Give some lame argument for why you converted to whatever superstition you currently hold (This is usually either some circumstantial assumption or the tired old Pascal's Wager or both)
#3 - Take a big shit in the middle of the forum floor (this is when they dump all of their tired old bible verses on us like we have never seen or heard of them before)
#4 - Demand that we change our rules and attitudes to give THEM the benefit of the doubt by claims of being persecuted.
#5 - Leave and never look back or care. They wash their hands and feet of the situation.

Thus we are stuck cleaning up the big pile of shit that they dropped their pants and farted out onto the forum floor, but at least we all get a laugh at how naive they are to think that we have never heard the same farts from the ten thousand last fundies who came through and did the same thing.

You have the right to remain silent.

If you spout bullshit anyway, you will be called on it.

If you do not understand the criticism, you will be laughed at.

Whether or not you have earned any respect, I do respect your right to go away.

Edited to say this is directed at the Islamic guy, not the reverend. (You go ahead and spout all the bullshit you like as long as its funny.)

Personally, if I ever became a Administrator on this forum I would:

Ban everyone who insults or swears at religious beliefs.
Warn people who complain over links
Moderate debates professionally and if someone breaks rules, they will lose
People who bring stupid arguments should be ignored
people need back their claims by posting links or similar way like that
Those who lose debates by insulting, should not debate ever again.

You do not have the right to..

• Claim that because you started it, you own the thread.
  
• Assume that providing links in anyway forms a meaningful part of a debate.
  
• Be offended if people don't show you or your faith the respect you presume it deserves.
  
• Claim to have won an argument simply because you have provided something that you personally consider evidence.
  
• Get all upset and sniffy when people don't behave the way you want them to.
  
• Assume that we are atheists simply because you think we haven't yet been shown the truth and then, when we reject your truth, keel over in astonishment.

To be honest, I actually believe I will be the best poster on this forum. This is my first thread on this forum and it has received over 5000 views and over 450 replies. Not to mention the amount of pages it has. I don't think any other thread competes with this one in terms of pages, views and replies.
