Your head.

Can't see the picture. From "your head" I'm guessing its the queen?
Because no-one here actually cares about her.
Kind of thought that came across in her jubilee when barely anyone showed up and the ones who did ran away when it rained.
Shes just a figure head, we seriously don't care.

No, dude. She's saying that the purpose of the Olympics is clearly way over your head, just like that joke.

Ooooh, right. Sorry. My mistake. You see I was searching for an actual explanation but now I realize I should of been searching for a gag... like a whoopie cushion.
I apologize.

Oh, come on. RD has some really good points and is clearly bitter that his country can't afford it and is doing it anyway. It is a common sentiment in England right now. I do love the spirit of sports and think that challenging the human body ever more with each passing generation is as brilliant as challenging the mind. However, differing viewpoint =/= stupidity. Furthermore, I also thought there was a missing picture or video. Chrome has been blocking some content now that the security certificate is active. It looks exactly like that post when that happens. That is to say nothing about the quality of the "joke," of course.

Just saw on the news here;

Some 20 thousand Londoners packed Victoria Park Race course to watch the opening ceremony for free on the largest screens in London. Even if they could get tickets, few could afford the hundreds of pounds .

Tangent; People may not bringing more than 100 ml of any liquid to an Olympic activity,including water.etha100mlof ANY liquid to any Olympic event. Coke is a major sponsor and also sells water..

I doubt that RD misunderstands the purpose of the Olympics; I haven't seen him say anything to suggest that. What he cares about is the state of his country more than the event. Yes, the Olympics is a great big event that shows international unity, but it shouldn't come at the cost of a country's stability. It is, after all, a two week event, yet it has cost the British public over 9 billion pounds to put on. That's 9 billion pounds the country doesn't have. We're already in debt.

I don't think I should have to say this, but spending doesn't get you out of debt. Alright, sometimes it does, but the point here is that the calculation for how much the games would bring in revenue was done at the start, and we set the budget at 2 billion. That's now ballooned to over 9 billion. The same amount of revenue is brought in; we don't get four times the amount of revenue because we spent four times the amount of money; it doesn't work like that in this instance.

Yes, hosting the games is a great honour, but there are people starving on the streets, and there are people without jobs. The games got some people employed, but not for long. Which is more important, the games or the stability of the country? You might not care about the UK, but we have to live here, and some of us don't like the fact that the government focuses on events like this whilst ignoring the real problems.

I am fairly confident that we'll make our £9bn back. Look how much the tickets cost? The cheapest ticket for last night's opening ceremony was £995 (Or thereabouts) and have you seen how much hotel rooms are costing people I London This fortnight? How much landlords across London are renting their flats/spare rooms out for? Then there's the effect of the massive advert for London the games are. We should see a significant increase in the number of visitors to Britain as a result of this over the next couple of years at least.

then if you can't afford host it properly, don't bid on it. your people in charge know the significance of hosting is more than financial and that's why they chose to put a bid in 7 years ago and subsequently win it. now they have the games and they must live up to that bid and put on the best show that they can. i didn't think that opening ceremony could touch beijing's with a 10-foot pole and it bored me to tears, but i watched because they spent and put in the effort to show what the uk is about and welcome the world to london. the benefits and other effects of the olympics will continue much past the duration of the competition.

i really don't think it's that deep about the economy, i think some people just like to knock people who are doing well.

I don't think the UK will lose out either. I've heard predictions of a 13bn return. And the countries morale will take a huge boost. That's what we need to help turn the economy around.
