And yet, R_J's god had no inclination to speak with the wannabe minister.Thinking I guess little voices in the head are non-transferable.

Big Grin Wow, I must be slow today, but it's so obvious! Why would god ever have someone pass a message from him to someone else when he could tell them himself?

By the way, not to be rude but that was the worst 'testimony' I have ever heard. You get a vague intuition to go to a coffee shop, and when you hear some couple having a 'troubled discussion', you ask 'god' for words. And what divine wisdom do you then impart on these people? 'Do what god says and it'll be fine'...really? Also, you claim to have 'rationalized the impulse away as weird' but you are later convinced that god did it, when it is so mundane? On a better note, at least it wasn't obviously made up (except the god part Wink )

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

This has been said here many times, yet Christians are the most stable people in the country.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Now you know the answer to that!

It is one thing to share a personal experience with the group, but an anecdotal reprise of god on an atheist forum ... ??? What type of responses were you expecting?
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.
-- Superintendent Chalmers

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.
-- Ned Flanders

Once something's been approved by the government, it's no longer immoral.

I am reminded of an old story about a missionary. He was told because of tribal tradition he had to eat the raw entrails of a dog before he could have the status to talk to the tribe. Halfway though tucking into his dinner, the chief turned to the tribe an said there look, the white-man will do anything to ingratiate himself.
