Thanks.

My boyfriend and I have a slightly different take for fixing that problem: neither one of us is very good about housekeeping. As a result, our apartment is kinda always trashed. :/

You haven't seen the Legos in my living room, obviously. I dare a bare-footed burglar to break in.

I see this topic and all I can think of is "make me a sammich!"

Does that make me shallow?

No. Women aren't much worse, running around in skimpy outfits to get attention, even when it's cold outside (seriously, how moronic is that?). If they don't respect themselves, you don't have to respect them. Of course, don't do anything illegal. Otherwise, you can't really get any more shallow than many of the young women you'll bump into.

You don't think guys can be shallow, too? Have you ever seen the guys on Jersey Shore?

Have you seen the girls on Jersey Shore?

Shallowness concentrates like flies to shit. Males and females (and any spectrum in between that can be capable of the concept of "shallowness").

We're all shallow, to a degree. Probably because we're apes that like to arrange into tribes and other forms of social hierarchy (which implicitly means there's someone below or above you)...

Pretty much that. Shallowness isn't a gendered trait; it's a trait that can appear in both men and women.

A lot of the people who keep complaining that they always wind up with shallow men/women, if they looked at their own dating behaviors, maybe they'd be able to figure out why that is. If a guy complains about shallow girls but he always goes to fancy clubs, throws money around like nothing else and makes a big point to show off a fancy car, yeah, that's the stuff shallow girls go for. If a girl keeps getting shallow guys but she always goes to the same clubs in the skimpiest dress she can find with makeup spackled on and enough hairspray to paralyze a horse and then she throws herself at the guy with all the money, again, she shouldn't be surprised she's going to wind up with shallow guys.

As for me, I don't really go out of my way to find people at clubs or anything like that. If I date someone, it's going to be someone I run into as I live my every day life. As a result, I wind up dating people I already have something in common with. For example, if I meet a guy at the video game store or the comic book store, we have similar interests right there. If I meet someone to go out with at school, I know we have that in common.

"Can be" =/= large sectors of the young population

Jersey Shore =/= the general population

With that being said, you haven't unraveled my statement one bit. "Guys do it too!" isn't a very good argument. I am not obligated to treat a woman who acts and looks like a slut with respect, because she doesn't even respect herself. I'll treat her like the slut she is and take advantage of the opportunity to get some easy sex, then leave. She isn't relationship material, so I'm moving on.

The fuck...? Seriously? In case you missed the memo, women don't exist purely as relationship potential. A woman (or any individual) has a sole right to his or her sexuality regardless of your ridiculously puritanical definitions of self-respect. If a person is comfortable enough with his or her body and sexuality, nobody else's convictions ought to affect the way they conduct themselves. What right do you have to judge?

And on that same vein, "men do it too" is a perfectly cogent argument. You're implying there is something about women that sets them apart from men with respect to sexuality and "self-respect," and as far as I can see, that categorical difference is their candidacy for your attention. Get over yourself.

I didn't say women cannot dress like sluts. I just said that I'm taking advantage of the opportunity. Who are you to judge me?

And no, I didn't imply that; you read into what I said way too much. Then, you got worked up over it on an internet forum. That is your problem--not mine. There is no need to project your own issues onto me, good sir. Tongue
