Friedrich, there's a difference between a cause of a mental disorder, versus an aggravating factor of a mental disorder.

A cause of a mental disorder might be, for instance, a dysfunctional family.

An aggravating factor, such as not getting enough sleep, or playing excessively loud music, or relationship problems, might make it worse, or draw out the negative effects, or hamper the improvements from it.

Now atheism in itself might not cause a mental disorder. But it's not too unreasonable to conclude that a more nihilistic vision of the world that comes about when there is no greater purpose, greater source or external anchor (as useful as delusions as they may me, or maybe not even delusions), there can be an aggravating effect to certain social conditions.

Existential crises, where people sometimes feel their lives are meaningless, or seek a reason or purpose in their life that atheism cannot provide, or see no justification for their life without a transcendent source or something- this is certainly not inconceivable for some people.

Add to that, the fact that in many socioeconomic climates, religion serves as a source of social functioning. Isolating yourself from the social functioning like religious and cultural events can exacerbate mental problems like depression and anxiety. Perhaps the problem is with the intolerance in the culture itself which makes this problem worse.

But as you can see, I don't think atheism creates mental problems. I think it's very possible it might make some worse though.

If you recall our first conversation, you will see that I was very respectful with you.

But unfortunately, your insults came gushing like a river. You were very rude to me to begin with that time. You even tried to force other people not to talk to me, to try and harass me.
