RE: Ask a transsexual anything

I consider myself pansexual. I'm equally attracted to all sexes, although most (actually... all, come to think of it) of my long-term, intimate relationships happen with men. I'm inwardly feminine for the most part, and outwardly, I'm on the femme side of androgynous. I like to look girly sometimes, but I imagine that most of the time, save for my flawless use of accessories (*wink*), people see me as a teenaged boy, with my almost-flat chest and my driver's caps. My closest friendships are equal between men and women, with my four best friends being two males, my sister, and my female roommate, all of whom conform to gender and sexual "norms".
I've never really felt like a "girl" per se, but I've never felt like a "boy" either. I remember when I was a teenager, thinking I had been born the wrong sex, but now, to me it just doesn't really matter anymore what sex I am. I've also never really felt the need to "come out". Honestly, people aren't shocked by me much. I just don't make a big deal out of things, and then neither does anyone else. Maybe I'm just lucky
I just want to thank TaraJo and Violet for this amazing and honest thread.

I sometimes wish I had girl parts myself. I like the softness of women. I do like being a guy though, not a "tough guy". But I liked having girlfriends growing up and certainly pined after many, was married once and that was a wonderful experience and she, my x, is a wonderful woman.
I am amazed though, in my 12 years of being an online atheist how much things have changed for gay/transgendered folks. It still is far from equality but I couldn't have imagined being part of such a thread 15 years ago.
Violet and Tara, it is great to see that you at least have a haven to be yourselves. I think it is safe for me to say for most on this board, you are both valued and you are helping society learn and grow. Thank you for this thread.

Confirm?
Some are, some are not. Depends on how open someone is to the idea, and the prettier the lady is: the easier it is for a straight guy to be open to it.

Funny, you sound like me, only sans the harrowing abuse... and I really hope it stays that way

I know a number of androgynous and otherwise gender-queer individuals, you certainly are lucky that you feel comfortable with yourself

Sometimes I'm honest, but I spend most of my time being irreverent.

I like being soft too, and don't want ladyparts quite as much as I want to be gutted of that thing. Moment I'm told that I'll never be able to enjoy a female orgasm: it comes off.

Nah, I'm not valued For every meaningful thing I've ever siad, 15 random and totally ignored things have been said by me. I'm certainly not helping society when my going out is a rare event. Thank Tara for the thread, I'm just here for the cookies

If you're sufficiently rich, and the terms are laid plainly that I may have a mistress (I'm willing to compromise, of course)... yes.

Ever since the Nikki Araguz case, I don't know if I'll be able to marry anyone. Especially since I live in Texas. Stupid judge.

Sounds like an annoyance, not only with a dead spouse and a mountain of money lost... outed to the world. Well played, Texas.

A biologist would have no idea what gender is since it isn't his subject, a sociologist on the other hand would have every understanding what our current gendering has to do with masculinity and femininity. Violet, gender identity is psychological. If you believed you're a wolf, act like a wolf and live as a wolf and not a human, would that make you a wolf or a human? You may think that sounds stupid, it isn't. Google "feral human" and you will see there are unfortunate individuals who literally have a different "species identity" to their biological species. And what's more it's not unique to humans it can happen in nature.
Quote:As long as prostitution remains flatly illegal, it will be deeply involved in human trade, drugs, and the violation of minors. I'm all for the health, safety, and regulation of prostitution... but even when those are all better, such illegality won't completely stop. And again, this isn't often on the prostitutes... it is a dangerous job, and customers can be anyone from minors to hardened criminals to infected with a horrible STI to dealers to pimps who demand a little more than their share of the earnings. In the current state of the job... there is literally nothing that *prostitutes* can do about these things.
Interesting reply, I think you've failed to understand the issue. "Flatly Illegal?" Prostitution is legal in almost every single developed country, with the obvious exceptions of China and USA. And "even when those are all better, such illegality won't completely stop", seems to show your hesitation and resistance to allow a group of people that are readily discriminated against from joining in with your movement.

Now take into account that a lot of people that call prostitutes are drunk or on drugs themselves, and the fact that some of them are violent, and you have the recipe for violence. I'm not excusing it, I think it's disgusting, but if you are willing to put yourself into a vulnerable and potentially dangerous situation, you would be aware that you could be the victim of an assault.
Take that Chinese-national Canberran man who was murdered in cold blood a couple of months back. I feel so sorry for the poor guy, did he deserve what happened to him? Absolutely not. Why was he walking down Northbourne Avenue at 3 or 4 AM in the morning though? He put himself into a dangerous situation - I mean the Northbourne Flats are fucking notorious. He had the opportunity to decide not to do it, and unfortunately he made a bad decision. Even if he wasn't assaulted, and wasn't murdered it would still have been the wrong decision, because he would have been lucky not to have had a confrontation with some drunken white-trash lowlife. In my opinion, his safest choice would have been to go to the Police Station in Civic and wait to be picked up from there.
Now get off my case already.
Ok, I think I get it.
What you're saying is that because prostitutes work in a potentially dangerous industry they should not expect protection under the law.
Is that right?
