Does it make any sense to ask what is the case for atheism?

RE: Does it make any sense to ask what is the case for atheism?
Firstly, "eyewitness testimony" gathered -directly after the fact- has been shown to be horrendously unreliable. Two people witness an event, and they will tell you different tales - within minutes - of that event occurring.

Secondly, the number of people who believe or would advocate for something is inconsequential to it's truth value. Basic shit, ad pop.

Something has to be brought to the table which requires consideration or a response before any justification could even be assembled. What am I supposed to say? Lots of people think they see shit, and lots of people think that lots of other people saw shit (way to double down on hilarity I say).

......?

Where's the beef?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

So you are providing justifications, that's good to hear.

Justifications for what? People being people? I didn't realize that this required justification from me. Perhaps you don't realize this, but you're asking me to provide a justification for your own inadequacy - which I'm afraid is well beyond me (but I'm willing to try).

Attempt #1 - Your faith has hobbled your ability to comprehend why there is no impetus upon me to justify the mystifying behaviors and ticks of others, including their inability to form coherent or powerful thoughts.

Well, you've already provided justification, you're living in cloud cuckoo land if you think you didn't. Or perhaps you are unaware of what the word "justification" means in the first place... which wouldn't be surprising.

I don't have to make a case for atheism. I am an atheist because my decades-long attempts to make a case for theism failed. I think someone already said something to that effect, that the case for theism is the case for atheism.

Most of the attempts to get us to 'make a case for atheism' rest on bad arguments like "prove that god DOESN'T exist" or the god-of-the-gaps approach, which was my impression of Drew's topic. I get the impression that, frustrated with having to prove something that cannot be proved, theists try to reverse roles and demand that atheists justify their atheism. But we don't have to. Yahweh isn't going to toss me in hell for realizing he was never there.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Lol, he's providing justification for rational thought, which is the justification for rejecting theism, which by the way is an easy way of saying he's a defacto atheist. He doesn't believe in atheism, so he's not justifying it in the context you are insisting. The lack of logical justification for theism, justifies the nature and necessity of its inherent counterpart!

Are you being willfully ignorant? She was clearly discussing eye-witness accounts and why they're unreliable. It's like some people on here are intentionally acting stupid...and to be honest I hope so.

-for rational thought? - no, I didn't do that either, I simply explained to you what rational thought -was-. Whether or not it is justified is left up in the air.

Didn't what? Can you string this sentence to the other without rational thought?

Does it mean anything at all?

No, you explained why the problems with eye-witness accounts... you've justified yourself.

If you think you didn't justify yourself...

Not surprised you're asking that question...

Why would that be a problem for a god?

I didn't.

Why not?

I don't know how long you've been here, but I don't actually justify my utter and complete lack of belief. I simply don't believe. I have no idea why the hilarious shit that turned you in knots didn't work on me. I have no explanation for that. No justification.
