Truthfully, I'd be honored to be apart of that last Generation. To see it all come to an end, and to do an 'i told you so dance.' (kinda like the whole Danny Mc Bride/James Franco scene in 'This is the End.') I'll be like "F-you Minnie Mcbride!"

This pope will indeed continue to deball Christianity to the point where it simply becomes a form of spiritualism that will fit any other lukewarm version of any other faith. Leaving those masses who follow that faith open to new leadership.

I think that this is why so many end-of-world predictions are expected to come in the lifetime of those who predicted them. There's an excitement in thinking that god chose 'our time' to finally roll up his sleeves and start massacring everyone else and using their skulls to pave our path to heaven. A few of the end-of-world predictions in the past were expected to come long after those who made them were dead, and I'm sure they took a lot of heat for that. No one wants to miss out on the apocalypse!

But he not in the position as every other believer. He dictates policy,and as such should be the one reading the book like a lawyer. The pope doesn't get to 'feel' the pope is tied to representing God.

I'm no expert on the details of every cult's dogma but my lay person's impression is that the pope is thought to receive the latest Word directly, no scripture required. Isn't that what some protestants think they are doing too when they babble away or sway with their hands upturned? The only difference is the pope has authority to speak for the big guy amongst the sheep under his jurisdiction. (Kinda burns your ass, huh?)
