And yes, Pineapplebunny, along with others, I'm slightly appalled that you would indulge in this hypothetical with a response along the lines "I'd kill first ask later and not feel bad about it".
I believe you to be better people than that--Better people than say, Drich.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Why is it: someone's tormenting me so I must kill them? Why don't you go to the police? Why don't you file a restraining order? Why don't you hire a bodyguard? Why don't you out the tormenter to the community? Why don't you videotape them killing your pet and have them put in jail?
Theses are all really good responses, now what could one do 300 years ago?

I don't believe I said I'd kill first and ask questions later. I said I'd defend myself to the best of my ability and if that resulted in their death I would not feel bad about it. That's the idea behind why self defence isn't considered murder, because everyone has a right to life and a right to defend their own lives. And I don't believe I was talking about me actively going out of my home into theirs and slaughtering them, I was talking about them right this second physically threatening my life. The only other option seems to be not defend myself and just let them kill me.

Trim away all the bullshit and what you have is an avowed fan and supporter of genocide asking who he should be allowed to kill if he can come up with the right excuse.
Or maybe 'he' is trying to get some closed minded people to think beyond the absolutes they set for themselves.
(If it does not apply then I do not mean you. Like wise if it does...)

Well. Buring is horrid, the pain of suffering from buring is undescirbeable.
I have only suffered second degree burns on one of my right arm at one point and it was horrid enought.
As such I dont even want to imagine the kind of horrible pain that one would suffer when burning to death.
So no, there is nothing good about buring to death or being tortured through being burned.
So Drich. Why should there every be anything good and just about being burned? Be it as punishment for being a witch or as punishment in hell?
It is simply utterly sadistic, crual and rejectable.

I just had to submit the OP to fstdt. This is just too good not to.

Lemme guess, Salem Witch trials?
If someone wants my blood or hair, have at it. I'd poke a finger and give it, cut my hair and give it. They're stupid.
But my dog.. Oh man. I dare you to enter my property with a shotgun in my hand and a knife in my boot.
What would I do 300yrs ago? MOVE AWAY. But only after I burned down their house and all their witch stuff secretly (group justice is uncontrollable).
Then they'd have to move away.

Well, if that's the case, you failed miserably.
