On one side you guys say that (physical) science is the benchmark for evaluate whether theories are good or not but when you are presented with a scientist that say that God exist then you say that this is no evidence. Quote:By the same token, I am not compelled to believe your made-up claims. If you aren't making things up, by all means present your case. If you are claiming that you've presented your case, I would have to say that it's not a compelling one. Whatever case i would present you wouldn't believe anyway. You are still stuck in the idea that life is finite and in this way you lock yourself inside the corral of dogma. (November 15, 2013 at 1:28 pm)Fidel_Castronaut Wrote: Hey asshole. If I had a son, I'd immediately take him out of a school if it was teaching the same crazy bollocks you're forwarding and proceed to lobby for the imprisonment of those teachers supporting this on grounds of child abuse. A chicken has got more brain that you. You have been explained that to get at the stage in which you can see inside a box you must reach the top of human emancipation and yet you masturbate your chicken brain in the hope that i come up with an answer. Did i ever said that i reach the top and i can see inside a box? Would you ask your young son things that are taught at the uni? Do something please, wake up and grow up so your brains stuff look more like human and less chicken. RE: The most important reason anyone is a atheist

That's why I accept that things like artificial insulin works to control type 1 diabetes, and why I understand jumping off of a 3 story building will most likely end up with me breaking my legs (at least). What we don't accept is nonsense made up in the minds of severely delusional people who want others to accept their delusions based on nothing more than a thought they farted out of their so called 'brains'. So, worked out what's in the box yet? Or are you still lying like the fraud you are? (November 17, 2013 at 8:47 am)enrico Wrote:(November 15, 2013 at 1:28 pm)Fidel_Castronaut Wrote: Hey asshole. Stop talking shit. You're a fraud and a liar, and delusion to the point that you're probably mentally disabled in some form or another. Your pathetically weak analogy to equate you making nonsense up to it somehow being attributable to 'knowledge' is just that, pathetic. Having my questioning of you being equated to having the mental capacity of a chicken would hold some sort of insult value if the person insulting me wasn't a delusional moron who is himself educationally sub-normal. So you can't tell us what's in the box because you're too stupid to even understand your own delusion ('intuitional science[???]). Ok, here's an easy one for someone who is a beginner at understanding their own delusions. What's this?: Take as many guesses you like. Love atheistforums.org? And yet again enrico demonstrates just how weak his position is. When you can't justify your own position, go on the offensive and attack and insult everyone else's.

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House “Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom "If my good friend Doctor Gasparri speaks badly of my mother, he can expect to get punched.....You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others. There is a limit." - Pope Francis on freedom of speech (November 15, 2013 at 10:21 am)whateverist Wrote: I can't tell you the basics of religion or spirituality. There are many different traditions of which religion or spirituality plays a part. I also can't tell you what gods are, but then even those who claim to know what they are don't agree on a description. You probably have your own idea of what god is and you're welcome to it. But since I don't have one it isn't a topic of interest to me. When i see my doctor i may make a joke or two but i never would argue with him about what is a disease so when i go in a forum that discuss topics which i am not well knowledgeable then i just listen or i would ask question but in no way i would argue. Unfortunately too many people who haven't got a clue about religion and philosophy argue non stop. Quote:I do believe in consciousness however because I have direct experience of that. My suspicion is that our brains are elastic enough to support not only the program we call our conscious mind but also others, including whatever it is people believe to be their god. So what is your idea about consciousness? Can consciousness be separated from the body-mind or die when the body-mind die? Quote:We could discuss philosophy. I have some ideas. My own philosophic bent is toward plain speech. If a thing can be said at all it should be possible to say it simply. Anything which cannot be said plainly is suspect. The chief purpose of philosophy is to sketch out what is and isn't known in areas which are not yet fully understood. Easy said then done mate. You try to explain something that is explained at the uni to a child and the child still would not understand. But if you explain the same truth to the same child that in the meantime is grown up 10 or 20 years then he will understand 100%. In other words you got to grow up your consciousness before you can grasp the idea. Quote:There is also a history of philosophy. Unfortunately, many seem to think philosophy is a kind of bazaar where one can look for positions and opinions one might like to hold. That may be what many people do with it but that isn't philosophy. If you stick to the real meaning of philosophy which is love for wisdom the you can not go wrong. Where do you find wisdom? In this physical dimension in which everything change all the time or in the inner consciousness where nothing change? RE: The most important reason anyone is a atheist

The problem is that so-called philosophers confuse wisdom with knowledge.

If you follow the last posts from castronaut you would have noticed that he keep on asking the same question time after time again despite i already explained in a nice manner my point. He may not like my answer but he got to stick with it. If he does not like too bad for him but to come back again and again with the same question make him look like a child that is not happy because mummy did not buy lollies for him. He may cry he may bang the head on the wall but if he keep on coming back and whine to me then i have no choice but to shake him off.
Oh i'm sorry, I must have missed the part where you did that, can you link me to it?
