I honestly don't see Scientology as worse than any other religion out there.

There is so much of this material out there. It's a disappointment that Scientology (and a lot of other religions and political systems for that matter) can exist alongside modern-day humanity.

Well, its good to laugh. Boosts the immune system and stuff.

I might argue. I'm not a catholic, and I don't really belong to any organized religious group. I just happen to hold beliefs which overlap with theirs (in places). You might believe in limiting immigration, that don't make you a republican.

However my own beliefs don't really make a difference to this though do they? I mean if I told you the LRA are a bunch of wankers, its no less true because I go to church from time to time is it.

Generalising all Christianity with the acts of people a few hundred years ago and the most dodgy proponents might be considered a bit... strong. Did you actually watch that documentary?

I see little difference between the claims of Islam, Christianity, Mormonism or Scientology.

All bare, unsupported (-able) fantastic, utterly ridiculous assertions.

As for the danger -- Scientologists comprise a tiny, tiny fraction of the religious population. At this point in history, Islam is a far greater threat to humanity.

Nonetheless, there is no doubt Scientology is an evil, fucked up organization and like many religions before it, will stop at virtually nothing to ensure its survival. Cue destruction of the pagans by Christians, centuries of Jewish persecution at the hands of Christians, the Hindu Kush, the Muslim expansion and both ancient and modern Islamic apostasy and blasphemy edicts.

On the flip side, I get no end of grist for my humor mill from Scientology. One of my wireless networks is named is Xenu. Visitors using my wifi scratch their heads if unaware of the Scientology mythology. I've told my kids to get me a black t-shirt with "Xenu" on it in white letters. So far, I remain Xenu-shirtless.

Not denying that. But the church of England tends not to deal with critics by hiring private investigators to dig into people's private lives then send their findings to those people's bosses to try. To get them sacked.

Maybe not at this point in time; in earlier times not so nice though was it?

I don't remember the CoE being so benign back in Henry VIII's time though. Torture, burning at the stake and so on.

Maybe in 600 years, Scientology will get all docile and benign too.
