LOL, the fact that atheism is included on the religion chart is all the information I need.

Sounds an awful lot like folks over at the Christian forum reasoning that Dinosaurs were lizards because Dinosaur means "terrible lizard."

"Didn't read lol" is your support here? Really?

Quote:a·the·ism
ˈāTHēˌizəm/
noun
noun: atheism
1.
disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods.
synonyms: nonbelief, disbelief, unbelief, irreligion, skepticism, doubt, agnosticism; More

Your desperation to believe every worldview qualifies as a religion doesn't make it so.

Oh, i see what you did there... you're comparing the cookie to "religion" and the raisins to atheism, right? Let me do the math real quick.

Cookie + raisins = raisin cookie

Religion + atheism = atheist religion

Got it!

Which is still the fallacy of composition and doesn't make atheism a religion.

So, no, you don't "Got it".

I'm not talking about atheism in general, I'm referring to the activists. For instance, saying you believe in God doesn't make you religious, your actions show whether you are or not.

Atheism is not a religion in and of itself, but atheist activists forming an organization to push their agenda can be debated to be.

So there is no "fallacy of composition"

You can be a religious athiest

Quote:Atheism is accepted within some religious and spiritual belief systems, including Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Raelism, Neopagan movements[19] such as Wicca,[20] and nontheistic religions. Jainism and some forms of Buddhism do not advocate belief in gods,[21] whereas Hinduism holds atheism to be valid, but some schools view the path of an atheist to be difficult to follow in matters of spirituality.[22]

Believing in god, however, does make you a theist or deist; "religious," as you're using it, is an adjective, not a noun.

Careful, because that definition still makes political parties, social groups and legal activists religions too.

This is what my cookie analogy was about: "disbelieving in a god" is the sole criteria to being an atheist- the cookie, here- and certain religions- raisins- fit under that umbrella, while still holding spiritual beliefs enough to qualify them as a religion under a mainstream use of the term. Beliefs that atheists are not required to hold. So there can be atheist religions, without atheism itself being a religion. In the same way as you have fundamentalist christians without the entire religion being fundamentalist.

Disparate parts are not the whole.

Way to backpedal, there. Is there a "derailing threads for Jesus" these guys take, or are their minds simply so unorganized all they can do is repeat what they've been told by their handlers in every thread?

Not backpedaling at all, look at my first post on this thread.

Never mind I'll include it.
