Will The Internet Kill Religion?

RE: Will The Internet Kill Religion?
It's obvious that it would be a huge factor for reasons already described in the video as well as in the replies here.

It should be very, very startling to the religious that better education and access to more information and people of different cultures is clearly leading to a sharp decline in people being religious. It's a no brainer to most atheists, but I wonder what their take on that is?

Let's not forget the that Americanization of the world promotes a life of debauchery in other cultures which goes against many religions. It's tempting to think that the internet spread's the knowledge needed for others around to world to liberate themselves from religion. But, is it doing that, or just promoting elements of western culture that dictate a lifestyle free of religious dogma.
PM me if you know where this is from "...knees in the breeze" and don't look it up!!

Personally, I began to question my faith at a time when I wasn't spending "400 bajillion hours a day" on the internet. However, given that I was on the internet at all, there may be something to this study. On the other hand, you can find anyone and anything on the internet that will say what you want them to say.

What do you guys think? Could the internet be a factor in people losing their religion? Or is this just a coincidence and nothing more?

no.

It may kill 'a religion". but when we talk about "believing" and "non-believing" that we are part of something bigger then the internet won't kill religion.

What is killing religion is liberal notions that people can do what ever they want. It is also killing the USA. ROFLOL

That's odd. I am an American and I don't feel debauched.

"In short, Meyer has shown that his first disastrous book was not a fluke: he is capable of going into any field in which he has no training or research experience and botching it just as badly as he did molecular biology. As I've written before, if you are a complete amateur and don't understand a subject, don't demonstrate the Dunning-Kruger effect by writing a book about it and proving your ignorance to everyone else! John 15:19
Quote:19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

As far as they're concerned, this is a problem of people not being Christian enough, so to fix that, they need to crank the dial up to eleven!

I like controversial discussions that challenge common viewpoints. People in the real world don't.

Yeah, I get that. Back in college, when I took philosophy 101, the professor always struck me as this sort of confrontational dick. He's try to pick apart things that everyone knew was true, just for the sake of argument.

...and then I eventually realized that those "truths" weren't given, and I'd been making a lot of assumptions my whole life.
