Sae, that's a sweeping generalization of all Texans. There are plenty of good people in Texas and the actions of some don't reflect the actions of all. I am not from Texas, and I am offended at this statement.

Thank You.

Then it is time for them to smack the crazies down instead of constantly electing them.

That is exactly who that is.

I think with the new generation of people I think we will reach a new "Enlightenment" or properly called the Age of Information. I don't see far-right people getting elected as much in the near future. Ever watch Fox News? The Rover Round and the "claw" commercials are always on, or the "Send us your gold companies". They are catering to the unintellectual and the old. But in this new age we can access information on the internet, it is the greatest bastion of information and unbiased information the world has ever seen. So hopefully with this readily available plethora of information people may research information on their own and not be subjected to only one source of information, I.E ever seen Reefer Madness?

I think this text-book debacle is a big cluster-fuck and those lunatics should be stripped of their BOE post. So in my above rant I'm trying to say that I don't think these types of people will be getting elected as much so this problem may be something we wont see in the future.

I admire your optimism.

If you mean ignorant and corrupt fascists such as Sarah Palin, you may be right. However, there is currently no effective political left in the US, (Obama; centre right) UK (Right, with a facade of centre right) or Australia (centre right)

Elections have nothing to do with reason for most people.

Most people vote habitually. .In my country elections are decided by between 3-7% of swinging voters, who vote according to their perceived best interest. The decision is made via the pork barreling of each political party.

I remember being appalled and bemused watching the last US presidential elections, where ONE BILLION DOLLARS was spent. I though Obama was (and is) charming, charismatic, brilliant and gifted orator--and I would not have voted for him in a fit. I saw him as more style than substance and still do..

Nothing wrong with the far-right that not's wrong with the far-left. Political spectrums aside, it all depends on the type of person running for those positions at the end of the day. Hence my position on removing as much power from politicians as possible, so as to limit the amount of corruption and have them working for the people rather than the other way around.

I agree. I think this whole party system is stupid they cater to corporations not the people. Why do lobbyists even exist its a corrupt system and always has been. Why are all congressmen and senators millionaires? Its a public service job.
