You know, I try not to make it habit to worry about other people's foreskins. I don't think someone else's baby's foreskin is any of my business. I don't think my son's foreskin is anyone else's business either. While I don't think male circumcision is a good thing, I also don't think it's fair to compare it to female circumcision. I do think the traditional Jewish method should be illegal though, as it can very easily lead to a baby dying and it's just disgusting.

Yes it's none of our business but should I be able to order a surgery that will produce definitive physical changes in my child's body without consent? I think that shouldn't be allowed... Now let's say the child is 12, 13 or 14 and really likes being a Jewish, in that case, and since there is some minimal maturity, I think we should allow it. And of course, voluntary male circumcision for hygiene reasons or whatever should be allowed

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if it was illegal, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon where I live. My son had a huge red card in is crib that said "DO NOT CIRCUMCISE", and I practically had to fight of more than one nurse who was just taking him to get circumcised. Everyone in that damn hospital tried to pressure me into changing my mind, because it's just bad parenting to let your son's penis be different than the other kids' will be.

Normally children can't consent, so I would think it should wait until the age of majority in whatever country.

My son's mother insisted on his circumcision, and I relented. Of course, she had me take him for the procedure.

It was ghastly and I regret having not stood my ground.

I'm sorry. We were questioned at length before our first was born (we didn't know the sex yet) but we weren't pressured either way. It's my understanding that more boys in the U.S. are now going uncircumcised.

Should we endeavour to ban these practises or should we not upset the rights of religious people to violate their children.
