To some ALL do. To others all do not. Kinda like God.
Are you saying there are people that don't believe in gravity, fire or electricity? Oh dear

if they can't get you to believe one your own merits, fear is the next best option.

You get feelings of fear about people you respect?
Here's your mistake. God is not a person. God is God. More a kin to a force of nature, like lightning/electricity or fire.
Now do you respect lightning or fire? Can you also fear them? Or is it more correct to say that out of a fear for lightning and fire you came to respect them?
We don't worship them. We do know they exist, and can make them work for us. If you want to be a pantheist and say god is the world or the universe, go ahead. We're not talking about that kind of god, though. The biblical god is a person.

Are you saying the ins and outs of gravity, fire or electricity are taught to everyone on the planet?

Fear of god is never a good thing in my opinion. But i'm not a christian though.
I think fear is always limiting and it's nonsense to think he'd have created us without "trusting" us, so objectively, nothing has to fear god.
I really think fear of god is a distortion of churches and institutions willing to impose fear in order for people to comply to their demands and values/morality.
Christian God is supposedly omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent, and the source of good "morality". So there's just no way, he'd create people with the fate of fearing him. It's contradiction.

God seems to believe otherwise, the fear of God is a theme that is repeated in the bible in several places.
Here's a question. If your unsure about God then how can you say your opinion of God is greater than what is written in the bible?
If your picture of God is different than what is in the bible then what makes you think your version is correct?

What makes you think the authors of the bible had any better knowledge of god than the one you make up in your own head? They were humans just like you and they told lies just like you, and they defended their ideas with more suppositions and cover stories just like any other con man walking the earth today.
There is equal evidence for both.. None.
Not one bit of scientific evidence god exists or has ever interacted with humans has ever been found. All you have is the swearing of men from thousands of religions that theirs is the "right" one and god really does talk to them.

As far as I know, in most contexts it is usually used to mean respect rather than being afraid of God

Perhaps that should be the focus of the bibles next overhaul. Replacing the word fear with the word respect?

You'd think that an all loving god wouldn't need to spread fear . . .
