Cops certainly do get preferential treatment by our justice system. If you want evidence try this experiment. Go to a traffic trial with a 1 inch pocket knife in your pocket. It will be confiscated. When the cop takes the stand to testify against you, his gun will be in his holster. Why does the cop get to bring his gun and you can't have your 1 inch knife? Its cause the prosecutor and the judge trust the cop more than they trust you. The justice system is inherently biased in favor of cops.

You almost sound as if you are catching on, Woodie.

What's the point of putting bodycams on police? You can shoot video clearly showing cops murdering a man and they still get off without even a slap on the wrist.

The point of putting bodycams on cops is so that we can see what the cops are doing.

If the justice system can't indict a bunch of guys who straight up murdered someone for selling taxless cigs, it doesn't deserve any respect.

Maybe if he wasn't obese the illegal thing they were doing might not have killed him? Maybe. Or maybe they shouldn't have done something that's illegal because sometimes people don't start breathing again when they pass out from you choking them.

Yeah, but with more and more evidence of misconduct, more pressure can be put on the government to modify the rules on how cops respond to incidents and deal with people. I think that dash-cams in police vehicles were implemented to help bolster their cases when arresting suspects, but dash-cams have also helped to show a number of cops abusing citizens and even breaking the law.

We obviously need to work to fix the other half of the equation so that cops are actually held responsible for misconduct and criminal behavior. But I like the idea of putting them under more scrutiny; it's the best way (IMO) to get the data that we need to confirm that we/they are doing things wrong, and look for ways to improve.
