If something can't come from nothing, then he must have used something to create the universe. "Speaking" it into existence implies that the universe just 'popped' into existence, from nothing. Which would mean something can come from nothing.
Which is it?
You are confining God to the rules of our universe. God is outside of our universe. He created the rules.

You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

And imagine how much more they all could have accomplished if the time they spent in church praying to imaginary deities, if all the money they'd spent tithing, etc etc, had been made available to them again.
Religion stunts science inherently; a book that says "here's all the answers, and don't question them or you'll go to hell," is not conducive to an inquisitive temperament, even leaving aside the time aspect. Besides, you're misrepresenting the sentiment that rob was expressing; "Religion stunts science," is not the same as "there are no religious scientists," so proving the latter wrong doesn't even address the former.

I'm sure that's a very convenient position for you to take: are you going to even attempt to demonstrate it, or are you just happy asserting that the thing you're arguing for doesn't have to play by any of the rules by which we could confirm or falsify its existence?

Again with the unsupported assertions.
Please explain how you went about discerning this to be true.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

You are confining the first appearance of matter to the rules of our universe. Difference? Why? At the very least, we know we have matter. God we know nothing about. You merely inserted him to say because.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

I hate how theists try to make a claim for god. When they don't clearly have any idea of what they speak of. Because gods have been around in stories for years and they pick up on that one specific god they want.. and try to convince us that god made everything and that we are confining god to the rules... god has to follow a rule when creating a universe or you know we wouldn't be alive. But there is over 40 billion earth like planets in the galaxy so god created us personally no.

Saying religion stunts science is your subjective opinion. Do you have any objective evidence?
If religion does attempt to stunt science, then objectively it is failing miserably, as the stats I posted above attest to.
