The argument of "chance"
#31
RE: The argument of "chance"
Appeal to popularity, and it's not even a majority. You may want to check out that logical fallacy on my blog http://robvalue.wix.com/atheism#!appeal-...rity/c1z25:

It's not hard to make prophesies "fulfilled" when you can just read them all and write that your character did exactly what they predicted. It's like sneaking a look at the answers at the back of the book. The prophesies were available to see when the jesus character was being created.

Yes, science changes its models in order to account for new evidence. That's why it continues to hold the best models. Ignoring new evidence is denying reality. Religion has been denying reality since it's very beginning.

That website you quoted is absolute utter garbage I'm afraid. I've never talked to anyone who understands evolution and still disagrees with it. Apologists have no idea what it is. It's got so much evidence that you would have to spend your whole life learning new it's to get through it all.

1. There was no chance - we are not here

2. There was a chance (however googolplex small) - we are here
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.

In the beginning there was nothing.

0+0=0

Therefore there must be an eternal creator outside of time and space. Simple really.

Not so simple; now you have to answer the question: where did that creator come from?

If there was a creator, then there was not nothing.

Regarding the prophesies again, they were trying so hard to make jesus fulfil them that:

1) He fulfilled things that weren't even making predictions

2) They had him doing things that didn't even make sense, or were mistranslations of prophesies, because they misinterpreted what they thought were prophesies

In other words, they copied out the back of the book and still got it wrong.

Well, now you've done stepped into my wheelhouse, so I should speak up:

First of all, evolution is not "the other hand" to belief in the christian god; those two things are not antonyms. You were going on about how 30% of the world is christian, as though that is a measure of truth, so if you take that seriously then I have to point out that the majority of those accept evolution as true.

Secondly, "changing their stories,"... yes. That is what you do, when you come across new information. It's called "learning." Would you rather the scientists discover new information and not change the story to fit? Would you rather they just be wrong, so long as they have the same story forever? Why would you want that? Wouldn't you be using that as an argument against evolution if you lived in that world?
