The dumbest fucking arguments you've ever heard.

That's the sad part because I know Alvin Plantinga is a genius when it comes to other philosophical issues; however, EAAN is awfully forced.

I think the worst argument I've read is Mark Slick's TAG. That man is a fucking idiot even by hack apologist standards. It's the worst version of any transcendental argument for god; It's like he didn't proof read it first.

A golden one from a family member:

"I worked with a lot of scientists (he meant archaeologists) who told me the story of creation did happen"

And later:

"A scientist can just make up what he wants and you believe THEM?"

Apart from having my doubts about the real existence of these archeologists, how would they come to that conclusion? Did they unearth Adam and Eve's bones?

The dumbest argument I think I have heard has been on the forum a couple of times, and it is this:

"I choose to believe it."

As well as being intellectually bankrupt, it's also a contradiction in terms.

The second most stupid one, again I've seen it on these forums is:

"It's not impossible there is a god."

Of course, that's an unsupported assertion anyway, and how they turn that into belief powerful enough to build their life around a specific religion I'll never know.

"I've given you hardcore evidence. You don't get it do you. Jesus raised the dead and healed the sick. Feed thousands from one fish and a loaf of bread. He was still asked to give them proof he was who he claimed to be. We know he existed and we know he died. Witnesses said he raised from the dead. 500. It would have been real easy for Rome and the Pharisees to prove Jesus was a liar. In fact they intended to. His body was under heavy guard by professional soldiers who would be killed if Jesus escaped. ( Yet the tomb was empty and no body ever found. ) If you have ever been to Jerusalem you'd see there's only one road in and out. Where did his body go? as far as I am concerned the evidence for far outweighs the evidence against. And like I said he raised dead people. Jesus said I come in my own name and you deny me. But when another comes in my name him you will believe. That's exactly what is going to happen. And you and everyone else in the world who refuse the truth while it is free will be deluded into accepting the lie that is coming as truth. Therefore you'll damm yourself because you refused to love the truth. "

Because, if the Earth were one millimeter closer to the sun, we would burn up- and if we were one millimeter farther away, we would freeze....
Clearly, someone missed that day of school in the 4th grade, when the elliptical orbit of the Earth and the resulting SEASONS were explained.
I've also heard this one: "well, if God doesn't exist, then who wrote the bible?".
Or, my personal favorite of circular reasoning: "God exists because it says so in the bible.".

Actually, this was a great choice for a necropost. The OP is still a fairly active member and I love necromancers.

Alright let's see....

I was reading a Christian forum once and I read a post by a woman giving advice about how to keep your children safe from bad influences.
On the list of these to keep your children away from: music, drugs, movies that aren't g rated, books that aren't written by Christians, science, and logic. Yes, logic is a bad influence on your teenage child. Be very wary. Very very wary.

Ps. This thread was started on the day I joined I think. Ha awesome I wonder if I have any posts in here :p

P1-All things that come into being, have a cause.

P2-The universe came into being.

P3-The universe had a cause

C: That cause is an invisible guy who hates gays, encourages murder and rape (sometimes), It loves you, and if you don't love it, it's gonna skewer your balls over lava for an eternity...but it would all be your fault if that happened.

I have written before that my brother told me that I over analyze things and that is why I don't believe in god. He also told me microwaves exist so therefore.....god. Actually, he decided that I didn't believe in god because that god was invisible but somethings we can't see are real so therefore.....god. He never once asked why I no longer believed.

I've heard that one before. The most common version I've heard uses "wind" as an example. It really ought to be painfully obvious how terrible of an example that is given all the devices available to measure and verify wind. I think that arguments like those are warning signs for a potentially huge waste of time. More than likely, anyone who tells you that as if it's a good point...is not going to be able to understand why it's not. It's hard work showing people that they've been seeing things through Faith-Goggles...

Talking of stupid arguments, WLC is visiting my university soon for a debate. Half tempted to go.
