I can always tell when I've struck a nerve, Drich; you deflect the question and try to throw it back at me. The question was about a six-year-old's ability to choose versus peer pressure. Want to answer it now?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

If you answer questions to your children as well as you answer them here, you may as well buy them a Darwin bumper sticker.

The issue isn't religion. Not really. It's boundaries. Unless a kid is being legitimately abused, other parents have no right to intervene in how that kid is being raised. And, no, being raised as an atheist isn't abuse. Everything else is a side show. A particularly vile one, since it's people trying to induct other people's children in their cult through deceit and peer pressure, but a side show nonetheless. Nothing about this situation is okay.

Oh I love this, and it could have happened to a more deserving person!!
You don't teach your kids English language as well do you Drich? I counted 7 spelling mistakes in 4 sentences.

Alright, this is in no way related to the discussion and it's a little nitpicky of me, but it's been bothering the shit out of me. You've spelled it like that over and over again throughout different threads which is how I know it's not a happenstance.
It's spelled "opp ortunity" not "opp ertunity". Good command of the English language is the best way to convey intelligence... even if you don't have any.

I'm really tempted to use the super-annoying ROFL smiley right now.
Is that what you seriously think you're doing? I think maybe you should look up the word "hypocritical." Do you honestly think a parent wanting to protect their child is worthy of calling them a douchebag? What you fail to realize in your ever-present simplicity is that this about one set of parents overstepping their bounds with someone else's child. I know your feeble brain can't understand that religions are just about beliefs, because you clearly have no problem with people manipulating other people's children to push yours. Religious beliefs are not something a six year-old's mind can fully comprehend, and signing someone else's child's name to a religious commitment in a religious book without parental consent is so morally reprehensible that it borders on criminal.
What's really disgusting, though, is that it's not enough for you to embarrass yourself with your complete failure to comprehend situations and see the true picture. It's that you do it with this pious, self-righteous dickhead routine.
You claim to live your life by the bible, so I'm starting to wonder what part it says to run around being a raging asshole with a superiority complex.

Whose stripping your rights again?
Ethics being challenged? Where?
You live in pure fantasy land.

I wonder how many theists have the honesty to say to their children, "This is what daddy/mummy believes..." rather than stating it as fact. Any takers?
If I had kids, I wouldn't even keep telling them, "Daddy doesnt believe there is a God" like a lot of people seem to think atheists would do. I'd only address if it came up, and own it as my opinion. The rest of the time I'd teach them how to think, not what to think.
Never having kids though. But I would bet most atheists here would agree with the strategy.

I am sorry to beat a dead horse but you did say that you would answer all questions. How old are you children, Drich and how many do you have?

When I say something, just re-asking me the initial question isn't going to get me to say the complete opposite thing, Drich. If my kid asked for that a discussion would happen; part of being a parent is to do that, rather than automatically letting your kid do whatever.
Quote: What if despite your 'netural' up bringing, she decides to go Hard core christian..
If she does it as an adult or young adult, that's her problem. If she does it as a kid, again, because of the predatory practices of theists looking to get her while she's vulnerable, that's quite another story, and if this was any other religion you wouldn't be pretending not to see why.
Quote:What if she doesn't want to listen to your propaganda? What if she found truth in Jesus, and wanted to follow Him instead of you?
And there it is! The gotcha: if anyone dares disagree with christianity to their kids, it's a sign of close minded parenting. Because what you really wanted wasn't some fair minded discussion, you wanted to manipulate our free thinking sensibilities into making us give christianity the same free pass that you do. Because obviously we should just surrender all our knowledge of parenting and let our kids do whatever they want, wherever that means they follow the path you want them to, random internet apologist for slavery and genocide.
Tell you what, Drich: how about I recruit a bunch of other religious preachers and a host of atheists and we come tell your kids the good news, and every kid at your church too? You wouldn't object, would you? After all, it's all their own choice... or is that only true when it's a choice you agree with?
