Quote:Umm, I seem to remember a talking serpent (snake?lizard?crocdile?) in Genesis which tempts Eve to eat from the Tree Of Knowledge of Good and Evil. (not an apple tree)

It's so sad when fundies have to be reminded of their own fairy tales by atheists. Careful, G-C.... they may kick you out of the club.

Quote:Genesis 3
The Fall of Man
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "

4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

so not only does your snake talk, he can hear and reply in context.... which is more than you do most of the time.

My my how nasty one can get over a little humor. The snake you refer to was a creature with legs that was able to stand, now as far as I know there is no snake that can do that, if you know one that can please inform me.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

You aren't very funny, G-C. Then again, most xtians have no discernible sense of humor....especially when it comes to their fairy tales.

Snakes are snakes although they, like everything else, EVOLVED from more primitive forms. Deal with it.

Sorry Min I was hoping to cheer up a grumpy ole' man. Maybe I'll do better next time. How would you know if christians are humorous or not, does this mean you secretly hang out with christians just to find out what they are like, could it be you need some new friends. What ever the reason I'm sure they will treat you better than the ones in the sandbox. Hey God cursed the serpent so that he would have to crawl on his belly and eat the dust of the ground, now I'm no expert on serpents and snakes but it seems to me that this particular serpent was getting around without crawling on his belly until he crossed God. Of course he could have had wings and was flying from place to place, that would fit right in with the theory that dinos became birds, no wait he lost his past mode of transportation and had to crawl on his belly and that would mean his offspring would have to wiggle around to. But then that junk DNA that CP was talking about might have come into play but I don't believe so myself.

The bible IS literal! That's like saying God isn't true, he's only a metaphor. It's historical facts people.
If it's in the book, it's real.

^And there are people who would tell you that God is a metaphor around here, DoodleBag. How do you know the stories in the Bible are historical facts? Were you there? Furthermore, how do you account for the mountains of historical text which do not in anyway match up with the historical accounts given in the Bible?

And I'm a Christian. Wait till the atheists get a hold of you! Big Grin

Do you believe in a flat Earth?
Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.
