This bears repeating.
Is it possible that the sun will explode tomorrow? Yes. Is it PROBABLE? No.
Is is possible the Christian god exists? Yes. Is it PROBABLE? No.
That is sufficient.
It is highly improbable that any god exists...let alone the judeo-xtian monstrosity.

Quote:2) Basic bacteria *today* have complex DNA. This is not true of the bacteria in the past. Complexity increases the more organisms evolve. The first living organisms were self-replicating cells that were most likely composed of RNA (the precursor to DNA). As for how they got there, you'd have to read up on abiogenesis, but it involves the early Earth environment being in the right state for life, and a spark of energy (possibly lightning) that formed the first chemical reactions that led to self-replicating organic material.
To my understanding they have never created RNA in a lab before, or a functioning cell. I guess its hard trying to play God?

According to you...

Good way to start.

So, i was reading about hawkings saying that there doesnt need to be a God to create the universe, but think about it logically, nothing -> universe. No matter what way he phrases it, it just doesnt add up. I currently have nothing in my hand, and I will continue to have nothing in my hand until I pick up something, basic science.
Well none of us are of the omniscient kind of being that can answer that for you, but I might recommend this video series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePkPYA4AQ3o

That doesn't mean it couldn't have happened by itself.

hey guys, just reading through your comments there, some interesting points. ill be honest, im not a very good christian, not by a long shot, but i was curious to see what you guys are saying, and ive enjoyed this. you atheists are good craic hi. but at the end of the day, we are just going to go round in circles here.
going to look more into what adrian said and im going to do so with an open mind
but id also like to challenge you's to read one of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John), first books in the new testament, read all of the book, read it in context and with an open mind, thats all.

Give science time, 50 years ago IVF would have seemed impossible, 100 years ago stopping and reversing the effects of many natural disease's would have seemed impossible. Seeing as your idea of god had an eternity to come up with what he did, I'd say humans have done comparatively well when taking into account the time scales.

I was forced to study the bible by your oh so kind fellow believers. I know some stuff. Just saying.
