Genocide is a base indulgence.  I never escalate beyond killing the first-born of each household.  Holiness entails moderation.

$250 for a toaster. That's a sin.

I paid less than $100 for it.  But if it were destroyed in a flood or whatever, I think I might be willing to pay that much for one like it.  It is the most perfect toaster I have ever used.  If a perfect being made a toaster, it would be very similar to the one I have.  Yes, it seems crazy expensive for a toaster, but it is a really great toaster.  This is one of those cases where it is expensive for the kind of thing it is, but it is not money for nothing.  It is a pleasure to use, and it makes great toast.

You're right.  I'd normally say I'm history's worst monster at this point, but we both know the Christian god has me beat there.

A spiritual rift is when the presence of God is not found in the life of a person. The person becomes less than what they are supposed to be.

''accidentally''?

Ah, the new loopholes of Christianity.  Wink

According to Matthew 5:28

"But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

The words would have it apply to a married man having sexual thoughts of another woman, but I had it apply to myself that if I ever had such thoughts of a married woman. And yes I did have such thoughts, but the accident was I did not know she was married (no wedding ring) and never talked about her family.

I'm not even going to try to find a woman to marry that I'm also not sexually attracted to. That makes no sense in a society that doesn't make a habit of arranged marriages

The point of that passage is, if you're married and have sexual thoughts of someone who is not your spouse, you're cheating on them.

Which is a stupid idea. The idea of thoughts equaling actions, or that as soon as you're married you're only attracted to one single person now, is ridiculous. If you're attracted to a woman, who you convince to date you, you're still going to be attracted to similar looking women. Having some random thought about a stranger, then forgetting about it and going about your day, doesn't mean you've committed adultery.

Indeed.  Promoting such a ridiculous idea promotes actually acting on those feelings.  After all, if you are going to burn in hell for thinking about your neighbor's wife, you might as well really have an affair with her, if she is willing.

It is really a stupid, moronic idea that thinking about something is as bad as doing it.  But because this stupid, moronic idea is in the Bible, many people believe it.  But the simple fact is, it is impossible to not ever have "bad" thoughts, and it does not hurt anyone if you do have such thoughts occasionally.  Acting on them, though, is an entirely different matter, and it is an insane "morality" that does not properly distinguish between the two.  They are not even close to being equivalent.
